In August 2016, a family of five left their redcurrant farm in Silvan, Victoria — driving north with a wad of cash, while their phones and bank cards stayed behind.

Over the next few days, they fractured across New South Wales and Victoria, turning up one by one — distressed, disoriented, and convinced they were being followed.

No kidnappers. No robbery. No clear “why.”
