Before we go on a small holiday break from the podcast, we have an exciting guest this week! Rolf Runkel recently competed on Season 11 of Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship, making it all the way to the finals! Did he win? We won't spoil anything!
Rolf shares fascinating insights into the intense competition and the challenges he faced during the show. He discusses the demanding time constraints, the pressure of performing under the watchful eyes of the judges, and the thrill of competing against talented bakers from across the country. We also delve into his creative process, learning how he approaches the unique and often bizarre challenges presented on the show.
We chat a little about our friend Chef Kevin Conniff, who competed on the show last season (maybe Rolf and Kevin should collaborate on something; we would be happy to judge!). Aside from just competing on one of our favorite reality competitions, we also learned about Rolf's entire career, starting out in Switzerland and how he ended up in Calgary with some tropical destinations in between. We also play a game of "Would You Rather!"
