The Stunt Brothers are away for another week, enjoying spring break. They encourage listeners to do the same. Even if you don't have a spring break, find time for yourself to do something special. We will be back with a new episode on March 31.

In the meantime, we have two Bonus episodes. We're calling them The Fieldtrip Interviews. These will include four of our guest interviews that we have done this season. Today's Bonus 2 will revisit our chat with Dr. Pius Ryan, The Superintendent of Schools for the North Vancouver, Canada, school district.  Then it's off for a chat with Katrina Russell and Robin Deleurme from the local union, the North Vancouver Teachers' Association.

  • Episode 9: Celebration

As teachers in many jurisdictions around the world will soon head off for a well deserved spring break, Roy and Martin proclaim that the time has come to celebrate. This episode brings a little Christmas cheer to the month of March as The Stunt Brothers began this episode in December. Roy shares some family traditions while Martin goes all bromance on Roy. Then comes The Homework Board and a metaphorical pat on the back. This week has a Gold Star instead of Detention Hall and that means the celebration of Cathy Gallagher, still teaching and loving it at at age 83! Then Rearview Mirror looks back at some famous people such as Stephen Hawking and Billie Eilish and their celebration of the teachers who had such an influence on them. Celebration is in the air!

  • Episode 8: The Union

In Episode 8, Roy shows his kindness through creative food drives while Martin talks of lessons learned from Billy Bragg and The Milk of Human Kindness. This leads to the power of the union and the supports that help make teaching much easier to navigate. You are not alone. To prove this, Roy and Martin head out on another field trip, this time visiting with Katrina Russell, Past President of the NVTA, the local union that represents teachers in North Vancouver, Canada. Katrina is joined by Robin Deleurme, also a Past President of the North Vancouver Teachers' Association and current Second VP. The discussion goes deep and leads to a wonderful summary of the supports of the union. For those listeners not part of a union, the articulate analysis provided by Katrina and Robin may just encourage some to seek the power of the union. And for a little fun, extra points go to the first listener who hears the vibrating cell phone!

  • Episode 7: The Way

This is the way. How often have you been told that? In Episode 7, Roy and Martin dive deep into the whiplash effects of always having to change course within an ever changing educational landscape. Be open to change, try something new, but be true to yourself. You don't need to change just for change's sake. Roy and Martin share personal stories of finding their own way in this life while being open minded to change. The Homework Board this week encourages the listener to shake things up and try something new while the Detention Hall is saved for the past practice of rote learning and memorization. Rearview Mirror looks at the one constant in this world, change. Change is indeed inevitable but you don't always have to jump on the bandwagon. Episode 7 is another fun filled journey into the world of teaching with the always engaging Stunt Brothers.

  • Episode 6: Boxes

In Episode 6, Roy and Martin get themselves into a box. Martin puts his tubers into a box while Roy finds silverfish among his ancient lesson plans. The nugget is to get started with all those boxes we accumulate as teachers by dealing with one box at a time. The homework leads to a purge party which makes this episode a bit of a horror show. That gets Roy excited about metaphors again and Martin wonders if this is now The Roy Hunt Show. Then some rearview mirror fun that leads to a Museum of Boxes in Paris. And you can put that, into a box!

  • Episode 5: Leadership

In Episode 5, Martin is happy being the supreme leader of the vegetables in his garden while Roy wonders if the recent weather that included a bomb cyclone and atmospheric river might lead to a snowmaggedon in February. The theme of this episode is leadership and what it means both inside and outside the classroom. The nugget is finding a simple way to promote leadership with your students while the homework board takes the Stunt Brothers on another field trip. This time they chat with Dr. Pius Ryan, the Superintendent of Schools for the North Vancouver, Canada, school district. Pius provides great insight into his own journey as well as deep held views on what leadership is and what those seeking a leadership role in any organization can aspire to.
