This Saturday, Victoria will take a major step in drug-driving laws for medical cannabis patients, while Queensland's laws remain unchanged.  

In Queensland, testing positive for THC while driving can lead to fines, license suspension, and even a criminal record, even if you're using legally prescribed medication.

Medical Advisor at Little Green Pharma, Dr Joe Kosterich, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "I think in Queensland a parliamentary inquiry and the previous government was looking at it."

"Everywhere there have been inquiries, the same recommendations have been made, it's just governments have been quite slow to act on them," Dr Kosterich continued.

The Brisbane City Council is starting early with planned burns this year, taking advantage of ideal conditions. 

Fire season in Queensland often begins in July and runs until October, but starting today, crews will burn 45 hectares at Kholo Bushland Reserve.

Gold Coast-based company Gilmour Space Technologies has announced its Eris Block 1 rocket could launch as early as March, making it the first Australian-built rocket attempting to reach orbit from Australia.

There is also a special Australian object that will be along for the journey.

Head of Missions Management at Gilmour Space, Matthew Congedi, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "We want to make sure that the spirit of Australia is coming along for the ride with us."

"This is the first time that we are launching an orbital rocket that is Australian-built, and even though the primary payload for us is the collection of data, we wanted to bring along something that kind of captured the essence of what Australia is," Mr Congedi continued.

The emergence of past plans to close Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast has sparked intense debate.

Yesterday, it was revealed, that climbing advocacy group Save Our Summit obtained documents through a Right to Information request suggesting the mountain be considered for permanent closure. 

Today, Minister for the Environment and Tourism, Andrew Powell, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "My response is that there will be categorically no closure to Mount Beerwah on a permanent basis, nor, for that matter, any other of the Glasshouse Mountain peaks or for that matter, any national park."

A new study has revealed that Australian women tend to wait longer to seek emergency help for a heart attack than men.

Heart disease kills more than twice as many Australian women as breast cancer, and approximately 40 per cent of heart attacks in women are fatal. 

Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Esther Davis, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "I think that overall, women tend to think that heart disease isn't something that happens to women, and that still is the case despite, 20 years of us trying to trying to get the message out there."

"That leads to a couple of things, women don't tend to think they're having a heart attack when they have symptoms that might suggest it, but also they're less aware of their risk factors for having a heart attack," Dr Davis continued.

Last week, one of Elon Musk's SpaceX rockets crashed back to Earth, and a large chunk of a Blue Origin rocket's nose cone washed up on the shore of a Bahamian island.

But what happens when space objects fall back into Earth? 

Astrophysicist & Cosmologist, Brad Tucker, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "The question is always when and where, and this is actually the crux of the problem."

"Some of it does burn into the Earth's atmosphere, but for the most part, it does make its way to the Earth," Mr Tucker continued.
