Millions of Queenslanders are being told to prepare amid warnings of the first cyclone to cross the state’s southern coast in half a century.

Tropical Cyclone Alfred could make landfall in South East Queensland by Thursday as a Category 2 system.

This Sunday is Clean Up Australia Day, where thousands of Australians roll up their sleeves and help keep the environment clean.

However, a new study from the University of Queensland suggests that the type of packaging used in Australia may be negatively impacting attitudes towards littering.

 UQ Senior Research Academic and lead author of this study, Leela Dilkes-Hoffman, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "For India, the Philippines, and Australia, we actually see that which material respondents are being presented with, then changes their response about whether they're comfortable with it entering the environment."

Bugs for Bugs is a Queensland-based business that provides bugs to eat other bugs. 

Founder of Bugs for Bugs, Dan Papacek, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "The intent is to try to get away from using pesticides as much as possible."

"We use native biocontrol agents, naturally occurring, little parasitic wasps, ladybird beetles, lacewings, and little tiny predatory mites.

"Often we can get a really good outcome and not have to go in the backyard or anywhere with a spray can," Mr Papacek continued.

A Brisbane brewery has earnt the title of Australia's best beer at the Royal Queensland Awards Beer Competition. 

Slipstream Brewing Company in Yeeronapilly claimed the Grand Champion Beer and The Star Entertainment Group Best Queensland Beer titles for the first time with their Classic Saison. 

Head Brewer at Slipstream Brewing Company, Gavin Croft, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "We're in party mode now."

"We've got a team that's very focused on quality and, it's a good way to benchmark what you're doing against the rest of the state and the rest of the country, so yeah, great to be rewarded for that," Mr Croft said.

Last night, Kylie Minogue lit up the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, and one lucky fan had a one-in-a-lifetime experience. 

Sabrina Khan was picked from the crowd to join Kylie Minogue on stage.

Ms Khan told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "Kylie picked me to be the chosen one."
