Finding Your Life Purpose with Nathalie P
*Thanks so much to Nathlie P for guest posting for us*
Nathalie P put together the detailed show transcript for us.  Thanks so much Nathalie P!
TODAY WE ARE TALKING FINDING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE. HOW DO WE GO

    ABOUT FINDING OUR LIFE PURPOSE?
There are 5 areas of a person’s self that lead to our life purpose: Imagine
a pyramid with 6 levels. I will start at the bottom of the pyramid with the
environment, go up to the behaviors, the skills, the beliefs and values, your
real identity and when you follow all that in the right order, that is when you
can find your life purpose at the very top of the pyramid.
Some people get stuck in each of these levels and it keeps them from moving
forward to the next level and that is what I do as a life coach. I help people
identify where the problem is and how to move on to the top of the pyramid.
WHERE DOES THIS PYRAMID COME FROM AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT IN

HELPING PEOPLE FINDING THEIR LIFE PURPOSE?
This pyramid was invented by Robert Diltz. He created these levels that we call
neurological levels in NLP (neuro-linguistic-programming). We work with this
pyramid in order to be able to identify layers and each level of a person’s self.
IT SOUNDS REALLY INTERESTING. LET’S TALK ABOUT IT SOME MORE. I GET

INTO THIS A LOT MYSELF WITH ENVIRONMENT AND HABITS AND IT IS QUITE

SIMILAR TO WHAT I BELIEVE MYSELF. SO LET’S GET INTO IT: HOW CAN WE

FIND OUR ENVIRONMENT AND FIND OUT IF WE HAVE AN ISSUE IN THIS

    CATEGORY?
The environment is the base of the pyramid. Where we live, work, drive, and
exist. Our surroundings: the people we interacting with, the places where we
are, where we work, where we live. It is at the base of who we are but it is not
who we are. In the materialistic world we live in, a lot of people tend to identify
themselves by the size of house they live in, the type of car they drive, the
electronic devices they use or the brand of clothes they wear. But in fact, none
of that ”stuff” represents who we really are. It is just part of the environment.
SO THIS IS MORE LIKE THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT? WHAT IS SURROUNDING

    US?
    Exactly
HOW DO YOU FIND OUT IF THAT IS AN ISSUE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE?
As an example, I coached a client that was working in Saudi Arabia. We used
Skype. She had an environment problem. She wanted to move to a different
country and relocate her humanitarian work. At first, she thought that she
needed to go back to school and work on her skills so that she could get a
different kind of job, but when we turned into all the other layers of the
pyramid, we found out that everything was aligned but she was in the wrong
country, the wrong environment. Her values and beliefs were respected, she
was doing exactly the job she wanted. Her everyday life behaviors were great
and she felt like she could be herself. The problem was her environment. She

  • EM&B #152: The Truth about Protein Supplements
Protein supplements is the topic on the edition of Exploring Mind and Body, more specifically I’ll be talking about Complete Truth Protein.
*Here is an excerpt from the show transcript that I thought would be beneficial for you to read*
    Food Above All Else
Because I believed in food so much I knew this this product I would design had to come from food, not chemicals or pharmaceuticals. And because more supplements I’ve ever take were so hard to read and understand I knew the product I would set out to design would be easy to understand and easy to read by whomever picked it up.
Some people really enjoy the detailed story of me actually designing Complete Truth Protein, which I’ll only touch on here, but if you’re interested in the complete story it’s written in a recipe book which I offer for free found here.
As I began to experiment one thing led to another and I finally came up with hemp hearts because of all the nutritional benefits not to mention it’s a complete protein which means it has all the essential amino acids you’d find in a meat. And then there’s quinoa, which is a also a complete protein and it also has other benefits I was looking for like slow digesting carbohydrates to name the main reason I chose it.
    The Problem with conventional supplements
So here’s the problem with most conventional supplements, I’m talking about the clean ones here. They’re isololates. Which doesn’t mean they’re unhealthy, what it does mean is they strip all the natural nutrients from the original product, they take away quality calories (remember I believe clean calories actually heal), they take away healthy fats, fibre and more. They are also usually processed at high temperatures which means some of the nutrient are destroyed. Again there’s nothing wrong with this if you’re looking for a protein isolate. The problem is many people think protein will keep them full longer, they think they lack protein in their diet, which certainly isn’t the case, we lack nutrients.
A secret you may not want to believe
Let me tell you a secret, all those people that tell you you need more protein in your diet, they’re wrong. Listen for a second, most of you listening are from North America, we in North America consume more meat products i.e protein, than anywhere else in the world. We consume steaks in one sitting that would feed an entire family. And are we the healthiest countries around, far from it. In fact if we’re talking about America, it’s quite the opposite. But here we are thinking and listening to the masses that say, you don’t have enough protein in your diet. It’s absolutely ridiculous if you think about it.
What we are lacking is nutrients, we lack clean calories that we now fear, that actually speed up our metabolism and help us burn body fat, we need healthy fats for brain function, joint function and to burn bad fats; we need carbohydrates to fuel us with energy all day long. We wonder why we’re drained and stressed, lack motivation and ambition when we give our bodies and minds nothing to work with.

  • EM&B #151: Living Gluten Free
Today I interview Holistic Nutritionist Nicole Boisvert on living Gluten Free who has personally done so for many years.  This is a growing topic that I’m actually surprised we haven’t talked about before.  There is certainly a growing number of people that seem to be getting diagnosed with celiac or are gluten intolerant which is why I wanted to shine some light on this topic.
Let’s talk about Nicole before we get started:
Nicole Boisvert is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist who has been exploring her passion for food, nutrition and green living for over 25 years. She currently works at Community Natural Foods as the Community Engagement Coordinator educating corporate groups, schools and the public sector on whole food nutrition and living a healthy and sustainable life. Her role includes community investment work and innovative program development with local businesses and not for profits groups. She currently sits on the advisory committee at S.A.I.T. Polytechnic for the Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles Program. She is also a former board member of the Celiac Association, Calgary Chapter. • EM&B #150: Finding Success
Finding Success is the topic on today’s Exploring Mind and Body.  First of all welcome to show #150,  being on air for  this many shows and almost 3 years has been an absolute please.  There’s been so many lessons learned and positive aspects that have come out of this show, I’m so grateful it’s been a part of me.  Let’s get into the show.
    Finding Success
Finding success is the main topic of the show and what it comes down to is, what is success to you? Have you actually thought about this, have you ever written it down, have you ever clearly defined your success? Because I’m guessing you haven’t, in fact I know many haven’t because when I ask I don’t get a clear answer. How can we find success if we don’t know what it is, if we don’t know what it looks like? What if our success is starring us right in the face, what if we’ve already achieved success but we don’t know it because we have no definition of it?
So here is what I want you to do, grab a pen and paper, you can do it right now if you like (unless you’re driving or doing some kind of activity, that wouldn’t be a good idea), course you can come back or pause if you’re listening on itunes or directly from exploringmindandbody.com…..but what I want you to do is make a list and write down what success is to you.
I’d bet many people have no idea where to start. I mean success, is success, fancy cars, big houses, lots of money, that’s success to everyone isn’t it? No it’s not, there are plenty of successful people out there that don’t have diamonds and fancy cars and shopping budget that has no end. Financial success isn’t the only kind of success and even if that’s what you’re after, do you have an end to it?
A good friend of mine asked me one time, what’s enough for you, what’s success, how much money will make you happy. I replied, I want tons of money, millions, I want an unlimited amount of money. They said, you aren’t able to have an unlimited amount of money, it’ll stop somewhere. They carried on, so if you never want it to stop, if there’s no end, then no amount will make you happy? This was a deep question, much deeper than I initially had thought.
But you see, that’s the problem, we don’t have a definition of success and it doesn’t have to be money. Do we have a decent car, maybe many even consider it nice. We have a loving, supportive family, we have food on the table, we can even take vacations when we want. But look, these same people still don’t consider themselves successful, why not? Because they haven’t defined what success is to themselves.
We chase something that isn’t there, we’re better off than most but we still want. And don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with achieving, there’s nothing wrong with striving or accomplishing but what I’m getting at here is, why not find out what success is to you. It doesn’t mean it’ll never change, it doesn’t mean you won’t set new heights and achieve more but it does mean, when you find that success, the success that you clearly defined, that you can find some gratification in your hard work, you can find contentment, you can be satisfied and even celebrate a little that you’re where you want to be, that you’ve reached your goal….and be proud of who you are or what you’ve become.
Finding Success is much easier once you define what success means to you

  • EM&B: #149 How to Juice
How to juice is the topic on today on Exploring Mind and Body.  Today I’m interviewing Debbie Kishineff who is an absolute expert leading by experience who actually drinks 3 pints of juice a day.  She’s lost 65lbs (correct me if I’m wrong Debbie) and she’s changed her lifestyle around for the better.  Debbie is heavily involved in the Health Food industry who owns a successful superfood company called Jump up and GoGo.
After years of living an unhealthy life Debbie decided to make a change.  She started taking health food classes, more particularly raw food classes, decided to make life changes, lost a ton of weight and now find herself smack in the middle of the health food industry.
How to juice with Debbie Kishneff
Topics we covered in the show:
    Equipment:
Debbie uses a Champion juicer, but says you get what you pay for.  You can buy a more expensive juicer or a lower end one.  Just remember, you don’t get all the nutrients from the lowest quality types.
    Wheat grass:
In how to juice Debbie also talks about how to grow and harvest wheat grass and finally how to use.  Great topic right here.  Debbie ends up freezing hers is coconut water…..how good does that sound!?
    Fermenting Pulp:
So one of the biggest issues of why people don’t juice is because of lost nutrients or wasted food.  Debbie talks about how she actually turns her pulp into fermented food.  I love talking about this subject so I’m glad Debbie gave us some advise on how to ferment our own food.
    Vacuum Sealing:
Here is an interesting topic and way to preserve your juice so you can take it with you wherever you go!  Debbie talks about how she carries juice with her and how this process makes it easier so she’s never without her juice.
    Fruit/Veggie ratio:
This is a great topic because many people aren’t sure what recipe to use or what format to follow.  Debbie gives us some easy advise when recommending the 80/20 rule.  80%Veggies 20% Fruit is as simple as it gets. Debbie also warns us to be conscious of how much sugar (even from fruit) we’re putting in our body.

    Summary
Just a quick thank you to Debbie for coming on the show.  She really is a down to earth, regular person that’s here to help, so for everything that you do Debbie, we appreciate you.
Thank you for tuning in, we always appreciate your time and consideration of Exploring Mind and Body.  An offer we’ve just started with for our Exploring Mind and Body listeners if you’re interested in 15% off a 2lb bag of Complete Truth Protein, head over to the website and give it a try by adding EMB (for Exploring Mind and Body) in the coupon box.

  • EM&B #148: Think Yourself Thin
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND, HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT DEVELOPING THIS THINK YOURSELF THIN IDEA?
Nathalie P is from Quebec City, lived 8 years in Toronto and now live in White Rock, BC. She has been teaching fitness for over 27 years, personal training for over 15 years, Nutrition and Wellness Specialist for over 10 years, author of the book: When You’re Hungry, You Gotta eat, and Life coach for 7 years.
Nathalie P has a background most of us only dream of; we wish we could be in life now where she grew up.  Nathalie P was raised around inspiration; she grew up around encouraging, positive and loving parents who knew from the get go the benefits of a positive environment. On Sundays, they would make her sit in the living room to listen to some motivational tapes, as food for the brain. She was wired with a positive outlook on life at a very young age.
At a young age Nathalie P was introduced to the great leaders of the world today, with the likes of Og Mandino and Zig Ziglar paving her path to success she only had one choice, that was to succeed at the highest level, but not only that but to teach her life learning to each individual as she follows her passion of making this world a better place (one star fish at a time).
Being in the Fitness and Nutrition fields, she found out soon enough that it wasn’t just about healthy eating and exercising, there was a third key element and it is to have a proper mindset. Do you know anybody who is exercising 5 times a week and eat well, and yet, still cannot seem to be losing weight?
Think yourself thin with Nathalie P

    2. You work with NLP What is that?
NEURO is the brain – the most complex structure of the universe, asleep or awake it controls everything in your life, it is always working for you.
LINGUISTIC – the words we are using to think and to speak are very important, they are the words being heard and processed by your own brain that will try his best to make you right every time. We hear ourselves say things all the time and we think things all the time with some specific words. We don’t realize how crucial the words we use are and how they affect us.
PROGRAMMING – as if our body was a robot and the brain was the engine we would need to write the software with the proper words in order for the brain to order the body to do what we planned. So instead of waiting for life to happen to us, we can make things happen and create what we want. Let’s say that you want your robot to want to exercise, then you would write that in your software and the robot would simply execute. That is what NLP is. Helping you do what you want. Let’s say for example you had decided to stop eating desert and you keep shoving pastries off your face. Maybe if your software had been programmed properly, you would probably not even crave the pastry in first place.

    3. We all self-sabotage ourselves in some way. So why are we self-sabotaging ourselves?
We are self-sabotaging ourselves because of what we have programmed ourselves to be. The brain is really powerful and it will always make you right.
I always ask this simple question: Who is calling the shots. Who is in your brain? Who is deciding for you? It is your brain, it is the way you are wired and the way you think. Our brain is the most complex structure in the universe and I believe that we only use 10% of its capabilities. And while we are busy worrying and sweating the small stuff, the 90% unused part of our brain is at work,

  • EM&B #147: Questions and Answers
EM&B #147: Questions and Answers is this entire show of Exploring Mind and Body.  I receive many questions throughout the week, so I thought why not dedicate and entire show to answering these questions for everyone.
    Summary
What do I think of juicing diets?
Why are breakfast cereals so unhealthy?
How to get children to eat healthier?
    How to deal with arthritis?
What do I think of Microwaves?
    How to reduce belly fat?
    Question #1: Juicing
This first question comes from Luis from Huntington Park California.
Luis wants to know what I think of juicing diets.
Thanks for your questions Luis, I hope you’re enjoying Sunny Southern California. So first of all I don’t believe in diets, I’m sure that’s not what you meant but I just want to make that clear. The whole diet thing isn’t for me. I believe in lifestyle above all else when it comes to health and fitness. If you don’t have a lifestyle that represents living healthy then you’ll struggle with health your entire life.   And that’s exactly what happens. We don’t change our lifestyle, we don’t consider the friends we keep, we don’t look at our habit or hobbies, we don’t pay attention to what we’re paying attention to.
Let’s say for example you want to start living healthier but every tue you join the guys for wings, then every Friday it’s steak night, and Sundays it’s ice cream night with the family and the only activity you do is with your thumbs or fingers cruising the net or Netflix. I mean we all have our own choices, I’m in no position to judge anyone, all I’m saying is, if you want to live healthier, if you want to feel better, if you want to be comfortable in your own body, your actions, habits or more directly your lifestyle needs to resemble that.
As for juicing, I’m not really a juicer although I’m not against it. I think juicing has almost become cool in a way, it’s like a fad or even a cult. Haha, that’s not going to make too many people happy. I only say that because when you talk to some juicers they swear by it, they love it, they protect it with all they have and I really think that’s great about it. Personally I blend, now there isn’t a fan base lets say for us blenders. See, that’s not even a cool word. The problem is, I don’t like waste and I also believe in whole food. I’m not saying jucing isn’t whole food, I am saying you don’t get all of the food, there is a difference. You lose most of the fiber when you juice and I think most people throw it away what’s left, which again I’d have a problem.
I understand some people eat it, some throw what’s left in salads, I’m sure some eat it with a fork. I know that doesn’t sound like the most positive answer. Juicing great, nutrients go straight to your blood stream because there is no fiber to slow it down. Again a very good thing. Juicing isn’t a product, it’s doesn’t have chemicals, you’re not adding anything to your diet you shouldn’t have. And then of course you have those juicing groups that love to be apart of them. So you can see people changing their lifestyles, surrounding themselves with positive, like minded people all directed towards improving your health. So I believe juicing is a good thing.
Now I don’t believe in juice cleanses, that’s an entirely different thing. I talk about a lifestyle detox in show #105 can check that out if you’re interested in what I believe a real detox is.
Thanks again for your question Luis, I hope that answered what you were looking for.
