"working together to test the XQ-58A Valkyrie aircraft, an experimental stealthy unmanned combat platform currently underway.

Read more: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/89470/us-air-force-testing-experimental-autonomous-stealthy-combat-aerial-vehicle/index.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=newsletter

The US Air Force and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions recently tested the XQ-58A Valkyrie unmanned aircraft. Kratos says the tactical unmanned aerial system (UAS) mixes long-range, high-speed, and maneuverability in a single platform - operating in the low-cost attritable aircraft technology (LCAAT) project.

2

VIEW GALLERY - 2 IMAGES

The unmanned system is 30 ft. in length, with a total wingspan of 27 ft. - and has a dry weight of 2,500 lb. It'll cost $2-$3 million per aircraft, according to Kratos, with the price depending on the number of units ordered.

Kratos said the successful test flight is important as part of the US Air Force Research Laboratory's Autonomous Collaborative Enabling Technologies (ACET) portfolio. It was able to successfully land inside a designated target zone, despite a simulated loss of communications - demonstrating effective autonomous capability.

The XQ-58A Valkyrie successfully made its maiden flight in March 2019, with a second test just a few months later, while development continued to its current testing stage. Another test in 2019 crash-landed following a 90-minute flight, with high winds and the flight test recovery system failure to blame.

Interestingly, a parachute recovery support system has been included - this keeps runways open to support manned flight operations.

As noted by Eric DeMarco, president and CEO of Kratos, in a press statement:

""The USAF/Kratos Made-in-America Valkyrie is the right system, at the right price, at the right time, and we stand ready with active production lines and a family of low cost, high performance, jet drone systems to provide affordable mass to the U.S. and its Allies today. At Kratos, affordability is a technology. We are moving at the speed of relevance and are disrupting the existing defense procurement model by providing rapidly developed, innovative systems, rather than simply PowerPoints, renditions, or models with unknown ultimate cost, performance, and delivery dates to transform our country's procurement model to address today's real-world threats.""

A quick look at the Kratos XQ-58 Valkyrie:

Looking ahead, the USAF wants crewed-uncrewed experimentation to begin by fall 2023.

Auto buyers interested in purchasing an electric vehicle don't have a shortage of options. There are models from numerous companies, with price points across the spectrum. US automaker Fisker is finally preparing to produce cars, with the Ocean SUV EV customers waiting anxiously.

2

VIEW GALLERY - 2 IMAGES

The all-electric vehicle features bidirectional charging so the SUV can transfer energy back to the power grid. Fisker also has the SolarSky Roof, a full-length solar roof as a premium option. This gives Ocean the ability to collect solar energy - and can provide up to 1,500 miles of travel each year.

The Fisker Ocean Sport starts at $37,499, while the Ocean Ultra starts at $49,999 - with the Fisker Ocean Extreme ($68,999) and limited-edition Fisker Ocean One ($68,999) rocking higher starting MSRP. The 5,000 Ocean One models are expected to leave the assembly line sometime before the year ends.

Here is how MotorTrend summed up the actual behind-the-wheel experience:

Pleasingly, the Ocean drives smaller and lighter than expected; it doesn't feel like a lumbering SUV with a big battery in its belly. Intriguingly, when asked, Fisker engineers smilingly declined to say how much the Ocean weighs, which suggests their extensive use of aluminum and plastics-the front fenders and rear quarter panels are plastic, for example-has paid significant dividends.

Fisker has over 62,000 reservations for the Ocean already, and won't be able to produce that many in 2023.

The Drive applauded the Ocean for the ""good strangeness"" offered to drivers:

Every window beside the windshield also retracts fully, including the tailgate and rear quarter glass. Combine this with an infotainment display that transitions from portrait to landscape with help from an electric motor, a center console that is completely free-floating to give the rear passengers more legroom, and an airplane-style meal tray that extends from the center console and, well, this thing is just weird.

Fiskerati shared its Ocean driving experience in a recent YouTube video:

Fisker's ability to produce Ocean units, then successfully deliver them to customers is absolutely vital. The company tore through $228 million during the first six months of 2022 alone - and is working on a supercar and a family vehicle named Pear.

"ortedly the king of video game subscriptions thanks to its widespread availability across mobiles and other iOS-powered devices.

Read more: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/89449/apple-arcade-may-be-the-most-popular-game-subscription-not-ps-plus-or-pass/index.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=newsletter

Apple Arcade has reportedly conquered the video games subscription charts, beating out other game services like PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, and Switch Online.

3

VIEW GALLERY - 3 IMAGES

According to figures provided by Football Manager developer Sports Interactive Games, the subscriber numbers behind Apple Arcade dwarf other competing services. SIG's Miles Jaconbson tells website iMore that Apple Arcade could have at least 100 million subscribers: ""I'm told nine-figure subscribers, I have no idea if those numbers are right or not.""

Popular Now: Cameras attached to sharks discover unexplored underwater forest

If accurate, then Apple Arcade is far and away the leader in the video game subscription space. Some critical context is needed here though: Apple Arcade is available on a wide variety of iOS products, all of which have a much larger installed base than the PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

It's also worth remembering that Switch Online and PlayStation Plus are both locked to consoles for dedicated play, whereas Xbox Game Pass does offer native PC gaming play.

Both PlayStation Plus and Game Pass offer access to other platforms via streaming, however; Game Pass can stream to mobiles (and consoles/PCs), whereas PlayStation Plus can stream games directly to PC via the tech that powered its former PlayStation Now service (which has been integrated into PS Plus).

Even still, these numbers are impressive if they are accurate. Now we can see why Microsoft is so dead set on expanding Game Pass onto mobile in a more meaningful level--Microsoft has said that it wants to use the Activision-Blizzard merger as a big expansion point to power its mobile ambitions, including helping add value to its own mobile games storefront.
