Natural Awakenings
By Isabelle Muscat
Maybe you’ve heard of Reiki but don’t quite know what it is. Perhaps you’re considering Reiki but aren't sure whether it’s right for you. Whatever your questions, Isabelle Muscat is here to help. She walks team Vamp through the basics of Reiki - a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of natural hands-on, energy-based healing - and what it can do for your body.
In 2007, Isabelle first introduced herself to the world of Health and Holistic Wellness when passing through a challenging period in her life. Her passion in the subject continued to evolve when she met a special Reiki master who mentored her all the way into energy healing. After going through a separation, her life turned into another direction, and when her parents were diagnosed with several health issues. The challenges and emotional turmoil throughout this period were many.
Thankfully, Isabelle was given an opportunity to visit Bali, where she met an extraordinary Guru, named Prabhu Darmayasa, from the Divine Live Society in Indonesia, Bali, in 2011, where she was introduced to the art of Angka Meditation. After this transformational visit, Isabelle expanded her knowledge in mindfulness and various energy healing practices such as Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Hopi Ear Candle Therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Non-Medical Nutrition, Therapeutic Massage Treatments, Thai Yoga Massage, YOGA and YOGA teacher training.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands”, based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki has two meanings, Rei is the Universal Life Force Energy that is the spark in every atom of the universe. Ki (in Chinese it is referred to as “Chi” & Prana in Sanskrit] is our Vital Life Force.
The free and balanced flow of Ki is the cause of good health. Ki flows within the physical body through pathways called meridians and around us in a field of energy called the aura. Ki nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting vital functions.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.
Reiki treats the whole person, including body emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing.
How did you come to discover Reiki?
I discovered Reiki when I was following the Non-Medical Nutrition course, where I met my Reiki Master, who guided me throughout this beautiful therapy. She taught me how to master reiki and how to use reiki to cope with daily life challenges.
Has it changed you and your practice?
Reiki has undoubtedly changed me in many ways. It has been and still forms part of my spiritual development, and I long daily to use and share this healing therapy in my daily life and therapeutic practice. Nowadays, I add this treatment into one of my services, especially where I access that a client requires further emotional support and healing apart from physical treatment.
Have you seen it make a difference to people?
I have seen many beautiful souls heal and change; this is one of my greatest accomplishments, especially feeling people’s aura evolve throughout the sessions. Reiki does not change the person during the session only, but every single day until the person decides otherwise for one reason or another.
What would you say to those that are sceptical of such practices?
“Have you tried this therapy? If yes, what was your experience? If no, I suggest you try it out before you decide and will look forward to your feedback afterwards.”
I believe every person can be sceptical to any treatment, not just Reiki. However, when a person is ready for a change, either physical or emotional, the practiti
