If AI takes your job, should your paycheck come with it for a while? Connor MacIvor makes the case for a seat guarantee, and for planning the AI transition before it hurts people.
The people building AI keep saying the transition will be "a little uncomfortable." Nobody says for whom, for how long, or what the plan is. Connor's answer is the Transition Moonshot, laid out at transitionmoonshot.com.
What you will hear:
- Why there are prizes for climate, ocean plastic and optimistic AI films, but none for getting people through the AI transition.
- A lease that goes with the job: when a building sells, the tenants keep their lease. Connor's idea is that when AI takes a job, the person comes with the deal for a while, paid through the transition.
- Connor's math: a full-time worker puts in roughly 1,880 hours a year, while AI can run all 8,760. That surplus is about 4.66 times one person, which is why he thinks the money to keep people exists.

Everything you type into a major AI chatbot passes through that company's systems. So is your idea worth protecting, and is running your own AI at home the answer? Connor MacIvor breaks it down.
OpenAI, Claude, Meta, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Grok: in Connor's words, on all of those systems, they get to see it. Most of us are not building anything a lab would want to take. But if you were, they probably could. That question is pushing a wave of companies to sell "your own AI," private, gated and encrypted. Connor's point: that idea is not new. It is being labeled more cleverly and sold harder.

- Who can see what you type into the big AI systems, and when that should matter to you.
- Why "your own private AI" is mostly old wisdom with new marketing, and what it really means to keep a system off the internet.

If AI can do every job better than people, why is the plan to fire the people? Connor MacIvor proposes a different answer: keep paying the human.
AI is now being pointed at hard mathematics, biology and the work itself. In Connor's read, the gains will be enormous, and most of them will land at the top. The people up there might lose half a fortune in a bad stretch and still be wealthy. Everyone else gets told to brace for an uncomfortable period. In this episode of View from the Ground Floor, Connor asks who actually carries that discomfort, and what it would take to get everyone through it.

- The corporate AI playbook as Connor sees it: an AI partner learns exactly what an employee does, the AI replicates it, and the human is let go.
- His alternative: if AI really is better at every task, keep the human and keep paying the human, because people without income cannot buy what companies sell.

A 3-day workweek sounds beautiful from the top floor. Connor MacIvor answers it from the ground floor.
In this View from the Ground Floor episode, Connor reacts to Jeff Bezos predicting that AI productivity may let some people support a family while working three days a week. The problem is the timing: Amazon has also cut about 30,000 corporate roles. Some people do not get a three-day week. They get a zero-day week.
Connor connects that promise to Workday's October 2026 workforce data, where basic AI prompting demand is falling while applied AI building and automation skills are rising. The useful question is not whether AI is real. It is who gets the upside, who carries the transition, and whether workers and small businesses are given a real bridge.
