  • 0031 — Rust Tragedy: Baldwin and Armorer Charged
Alec Baldwin and an armorer are charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the Western movie "Rust." Baldwin maintains he was not aware the gun he fired contained a live round. The armorer's attorney claims his client has "committed no crime."
    ---
A tragedy occurred on set of Rust, the Western film,
Halyna Hutchins' life, cut short and grim.
Shot by Alec Baldwin, that's what they say,
Involuntary manslaughter, is the charge today.
Baldwin's defense is that he was unaware,
The gun he held, had a live round to spare.
His attorney, Luke Nikas, calls it a mistake,
But the prosecution intends to make their case.
Armorer Reed is also charged with a crime,
But her attorney says, she's done no time.
Baldwin calls it unjust, but the law will decide,
And justice will be served, with all its pride.
Though the family finds solace in the fact,
That in New Mexico, no one can act,
Above the law, they've come to see,
Justice for Halyna, is what will be.
Hutchins was struck and killed in '21,
By a live round, from a prop gun, it's a shame,
Director Souza was also injured that day,
But he won't face charges, it was an accident, they say.
The cause of death, a gunshot wound to the chest,
A tragic accident, is how it's addressed.
The Hutchins family finds comfort in the law,
That in New Mexico, justice will be the final score.
As the case unfolds, and the truth is told,
We hope for justice, for the family bold.
And for the memory of Halyna Hutchins,
Who lost her life, in this tragic incidence.

  • 0030 — Jacinda Ardern's Farewell: A Legacy of Leadership
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announces her departure and reflects on her leadership during challenging times, leaving behind a lasting legacy.
    ---
With tears in her eyes, Jacinda Ardern stood tall and spoke with grace,
Announcing her departure, a new leader to take her place.
A job she held with pride, leading her nation with care,
But now her tank is empty, and it's time to repair.
She rose to power in 2017, a young and vibrant leader,
And within a year, she gave birth, a world first achiever.
She faced challenges head on, her nation by her side,
Through pandemics and terror, she never once did hide.
The Christchurch attack was one that shook her to the core,
But she acted swiftly, and her people she did adore.
Gun laws were changed, and for the Muslim community she wore
A hijab, and the attacker's name, she'd never once implore.
Her "go hard, go early" approach, a model for the world,
Through strict border rules, her nation's fate unfurled.
But now her time is ending, and she'll hand the reins to another,
A new leader to take her place, and lead like no other.
Though her tank is empty, her legacy will remain,
A leader who fought for her people, through joy and through pain.
She'll be remembered fondly, as she steps away,
And New Zealand's history, her name will always stay.

  • 0029 — Greta Thunberg's Protest, Detained at Coal Mine's Crest
Climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained by German police at a protest against the expansion of a coal mine in the village of Lützerath. She was part of a group of protesters who broke through a police barrier and encroached on a coal pit, which authorities had not been able to secure entirely.
    ---
Greta Thunberg, a young and brave soul,
Was detained by German police, a story to unfold,
She stood up for what she believed,
Against a coal mine, she grieved.
She joined a large group of protesters,
Together they marched, with purpose and focus,
They broke through a police barrier with might,
To stop the expansion of the mine, they would fight.
They encroached on a coal pit, black and deep,
A sight that made many hearts leap,
But the authorities were not amused,
They had to secure it, they refused.
The police were concerned for their safety,
The ground was soft, due to recent rainfall's gravity,
They feared the masses of protesters could set it in motion,
So they intervened, without hesitation or notion.
They removed the people from the danger zone,
And detained them, as a precaution,
One of them was Greta Thunberg,
A climate activist, known to all, young and old.
"We knew who she was," said police spokesperson Christof Hüls,
"But she did not get VIP treatment, that's not how it works."
He added, "She did not resist, she was peaceful and calm,
Just fighting for a cause, with all her heart and calm."
Greta Thunberg had been the main speaker at the rally on Saturday,
And surprisingly returned to protest on Sunday,
She was detained then and again on Tuesday,
But her spirit never faltered, it never swayed.
The group detained on Tuesday were released later that day,
But Greta's fight for the earth will never sway,
She'll keep on speaking out, with a powerful voice,
For a sustainable future, she'll never rejoice.
So let this be a lesson, to all of us,
To stand up for what we believe, without any fuss,
For a better world, for future generations,
We must take actions, without hesitation.

  • 0028 — Surviving the Cold in Yakutsk
A description of the extreme cold and the measures taken by residents of Yakutsk, widely considered to be one of the coldest places in the world, to survive and thrive in such harsh conditions.
    ---
In Yakutsk, where the cold is fierce,
You must layer up like a big winter pier,
With scarves and gloves and hats galore,
Or else you'll freeze, that's what they swore.
The temperatures drop to minus fifty,
And residents say it's not that thrifty,
To go outside without a fight,
You'll freeze in no time, day or night.
You've got to bundle up tight,
Like a cabbage, dressed warm and right,
    Or else you'll suffer, that's a fact,
In Yakutsk, where cold is a constant act.
The wind it howls and the snow it falls,
Making it hard for one to stand tall,
But Yakutsk residents, they know the drill,
They bundle up, warm and still.
The key is layering, that's what they say,
From head to toe, each and every day,
A scarf to cover your neck and face,
A hat to protect, in this cold and harsh place.
Gloves to keep your hands warm and snug,
And multiple layers to keep the cold out of your mug,
And boots to protect your feet from the snow,
For in Yakutsk, the cold is always on the go.
But even with all this gear, it's still a test,
To brave the cold, and pass the test,
For in 2018, it got so cold,
That even eyelashes froze, as they've been told.
So if you're thinking your winter's cold,
Just remember Yakutsk, where it's bold,
And bundle up, layer by layer,
Or suffer the cold, like a frozen player.
For in Yakutsk, the cold is always here,
    It's not a season, it's a constant year,
But residents know how to survive,
And thrive, in this cold and bitter drive.
They have houses made of permafrost,
to keep them warm, at any cost,
And heaters to warm up their homes,
And firewood to keep them warm, when they roam.
They have fur coats and boots made of hide,
To keep them warm, on the inside,
And hot soups and teas to keep them fed,
And warm their insides, before they hit the bed.
So next time you're feeling the chill,
Just think of Yakutsk, where the cold is real,
And bundle up, stay warm and snug,
And you'll survive, just like a Yakutskian thug.
For though the cold may be extreme,
The Yakutskians have learned to make it seem,
A part of life, a daily routine,
To brave the cold, and live like a dream.
So if you ever find yourself in Yakutsk,
Be sure to dress warm, and not to risk,
For though the cold may be a shock,
With the right gear, it's just a walk in the park.

  • 0027 — Foiling Russia's Gas Cutoff Plan
A poetic account of Russia's attempted use of gas cutoffs as a weapon during the conflict with Ukraine and the impact it could have had on European countries. The rhyme highlights the resilience of European nations and their ability to counteract the potential consequences through coordinated efforts and protection of their self-interests.
    ---
Vladimir Putin, a leader with might,
Invaded Ukraine, a war to ignite,
Europe worried, of gas cut off,
Their heat and power, to suffer the cost.
With winter coming, a plan was in play,
To bring Europe to Moscow's sway,
But citizens wondered, why they must bear,
Sacrifice for Ukraine, a burden to share.
Leaders under pressure, to soften the fight,
But Europe stood strong, to put up a fight,
Russia's winter weapon, a tool to use,
But milder weather, their plan to diffuse.
Coordinated efforts, gas consumption to lower,
Putin's bargaining chip, losing its power,
    Europe's self-interest, to always pursue,
    Individual rights, to always choose.

  • 0025 — Top Secret Leak: Classified Files Found in Biden's Former Office
Classified files marked as top secret were reportedly found in former US President Joe Biden's private office. The files were among about 10 at a think tank bearing his name, according to CBS News. A total of roughly 20 classified files were recovered between two locations, with none being top secret from his Delaware home. The discovery of these files sparked controversy and investigation.
    ---
A top secret leak, oh what a shame,
    From Biden's office, it's quite a fame,
Classified files found at a think tank,
With a name bearing his, oh what a rank,
Fewer than ten at his Delaware home,
But none were top secret, as CBS has shown,
Damage from a leak of this kind,
Could be exceptionally grave, one can't bind.
Confidential, secret, and top secret too,
Classifications that the US hold true,
20 files were found between two spots,
In November and December, it's quite a lot.
The papers came to light just last Monday,
At the Penn Biden Center, where they lay,
Before the midterm elections, it was found,
But Biden ignored the questions, not a sound.
On Friday, as he hosted a guest,
Biden ignored the reporters, with no zest,
He said the files were locked in a garage,
Next to his 1960s Corvette, a vintage mirage.
