  • #1 SOFA SENSEI'S - Nico Michael on his controversial last fight, future plans and being on The Cube

    Welcome to the FIRST episode of the Sofa Sensei's podcast, exclusively on the akhi&saltfish Digital Network! 

    Our first guest is Nico Michael, a boxer from the Team Shoebox Gym in Northampton.  We speak to him about his journey into boxing from kickboxing, his discipline outside of the ring and why making making weight is so important as a fighter. 

    We also touch on his frustrations with the sport including judges and controversial home decisions.  

    Nico's passion for the sport is clear and Team Shoebox, which features Keiron Conway, is clearly a thriving gym.  

    For us, it was a really interesting experience to be able to delve into the mindset of a fighter and we look forward to following Nico's journey as he turns pro this year.  

    Nico fights next on April 2nd for the East Midlands title in Leicester - you can follow him @nicomichael on Instagram and Snapchat.
