Jayland Walker's Funeral was this week. The pastors and the mayor ask for things to de-escalate so we could talk to each other.
Meanwhile, two police held this guy down on Tuesday see twitter.
and this video of Akron policemen punching someone who was already behind held by two policemen in the face multiple times. see video
It seems de-escalate has different meanings to different people.

MY TRIP TO IRIE KITCHENIf you're tired of burgers and pizza, check out irie kitchen (Jamaican food). Think chipotle layout, but it's Jamaican food. The place was super clean and had a Jamaican vibe. You zip through the line quickly.
I had the skewed chicken, Plantains, and pineapple coleslaw (so good). This takes three bites if you've never had this type of food as it doesn't taste like anything I've ever eaten. Quite yummy.
All of this is on top of Jamaican rice, and that mean I was not leaving hungry. They are located at 837 W Market St, Akron or you can call ahead and pick it up.

PROGRAM TO HELP PREGNANT AND HOMELESS WOMENIn an effort to reduce infant mortality in Ohio, a pilot program that provides housing to pregnant women dealing with or at risk of homelessness will soon expand in Columbus and put new roots in Akron. The state will provide $2.25 million from its budget for the expansion, but groups behind the program are asking for $9 million more for further growth.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ohio had the 10th worst infant mortality rate in the nation during 2020, at 6.53 deaths per 1,000 births.
Spearheaded by CelebrateOne, a public-private partnership backed by the city of Columbus, the project had positive results. There were fewer fetal deaths, less Medicaid spending and shorter stays at newborn intensive care units for those who received housing.
But the study sample was not big enough. That's why a second iteration is being put into motion, with the goal of housing 300 women across Columbus, Akron, Dayton and Cincinnati. Currently, the initial $2.25 million will only cover 60 women in Columbus and 30 in Akron with a starting date in the summer

So you want to take a stand and be heard. How do you do that in a city under curfew without going to jail?
The Beacon Journal gave some pointers that start with, don't have drives or weapons on you. Remember the goal is a PEACEFUL PROTEST. There have been reports of people being driven into the city to stir things up.

Just a quick update as we weren't sure what the deal is with holiday firework displays.
The downtown fireworks display will be set off at the conclusion of the RubberDucks baseball game Monday night.
The city's other firework displays will be launched from Patterson Park Sports Complex in North Hill and the Akron Executive Airport at 9:45 p.m. in East Akron.
The Akron RubberDucks said Friday that Monday's scheduled 7:05 p.m. game against the Altoona Curve is also still on.
The ball club is also still planning to host a showing of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" on the ballpark's giant video screen on Sunday night.
Fans can watch the movie from the seats or on a blanket in the outfield and stay behind to watch a fireworks display afterwards.
Tickets are $10 at the gate to help raise money for the Summa Health Foundation.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts around 7 p.m.
For more information or to purchase tickets, visit https://www.milb.com/akron.
UPDATE: These were later cancelled
