There's reportedly been an "alarming" increase in the amount of dogs being abandoned in Clare.

Two dogs have been found in the Clarecastle area in the last week alone.

Speaking on Clare FM's Morning Focus, Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote claims many breeders are selling pups without having the microchip registered in the new owner's name.

He claims this is illegal and makes it difficult to the track down the person responsible for abandoning the animal.
