“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.’

- Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet."

- Matthew 5:13

Application: Be the salt of your earth today with your attitudes, words, and emotions and when you lay your head down to rest, you will feel fulfilled in Jesus.

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. God wants to speak to you through your circumstances:

“Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?”

-‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?”

-‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

-Has God ever tried to speak to you through your circumstances?

-Do you think God is doing that with the Church right now?

God wants to speak to you through His people:

“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.”

-‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:1-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God wants to speak to you through his Holy Spirit:

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

-‭‭John‬ ‭14:15-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬
