Auburn football fans, the focus today is on the offensive line and whether this group has developed enough to protect quarterback Jackson Arnold as SEC play looms. Through two games, Auburn’s O-line has shown signs of growth, but questions remain after Ball State managed to sack Arnold multiple times. With South Alabama up next and Oklahoma right around the corner, the Tigers must find consistency in both run blocking and pass protection.

Head coach Hugh Freeze acknowledged that Ball State’s pressure was concerning, and now the challenge is to balance Auburn’s offense. Against Baylor, the Tigers leaned heavily on the run game, but Freeze pushed to throw against Ball State. That decision showed both promise and vulnerability. While PFF graded some linemen highly — including standout Xavier Chaplin — the unit as a whole needs to be sharper if Auburn wants to compete against elite SEC defenses like Texas A&M, Georgia, and Alabama.

The passing game also requires more balance. Cam Coleman is clearly Auburn’s primary weapon, but defensive coordinators will key in on him. That means Eric Singleton, Perry Thompson, and others must step up to keep defenses honest. Arnold was highly efficient on short throws, but Auburn must eventually stretch the field.
