Alexander Pearce - The story of the Irish Cannibal Convict

Listen Later

The story of Alexander Pearce life and death is both enthralling and disturbing in equal measure. Born in Monaghan he was transported to Australia and imprisoned in the brutal Macquarie Harbour penal colony. Pearce would become the only man to escape twice. However he would gain notoriety when it emerged how he survived in the inhospitable Tasmanian wilderness during these escapes - cannibalism! This podcast uses Pearce's own words to reveal the truth behind his spine chilling story.
