This meditation is for anyone who is tired of never quite feeling “enough.”
If you’ve spent years holding yourself to impossible standards, replaying small mistakes, or believing you must do more, be more, achieve more — this is a space to soften.
“Letting Go of Perfectionism” isn’t about lowering your standards or giving up on growth. It’s about loosening the grip. It’s about learning to value progress, effort, and humanity over flawless performance.
Through gentle relaxation, steady breathing, and simple affirmations, you’ll begin to quiet the voice that says it’s never good enough. You’ll practise meeting yourself with understanding instead of pressure.
This meditation supports you to:
• Release the constant inner tension of trying to get everything right
• Replace harsh self-talk with steadier, kinder thoughts
• Accept that growth includes missteps
• Feel calmer and more grounded in who you already are
There is freedom in allowing yourself to be human.
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to perfect your way into worthiness.
You can begin from where you are — and that is more than enough.
Journal Prompts - Letting go of Perfectionism
* Reflect on Your Standards: Think about an area in your life where you often strive for perfection. How have these high standards impacted your stress levels and overall satisfaction? Write about a specific instance where the pursuit of perfection led to stress or dissatisfaction and how you felt during that time.
* Mindful Affirmations: During the meditation, you practised mindful affirmations. Which affirmation resonated the most with you, and why? How can you remind yourself of this affirmation when you feel the urge to be perfect?
* Visualise Progress Over Perfection: Visualise a recent project or task where you focused more on progress rather than perfection. How did this shift in mindset affect your approach and outcome? Write about the feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction you experienced by appreciating your progress.
* Embrace Your True Self: Reflect on the concept of being your true self and finding peace in imperfection. What aspects of your true self have you hidden or judged because of perfectionism? How can you embrace these parts of yourself more fully?
* Balanced Living: Consider how perfectionism has influenced your work-life balance, relationships, and self-care. Write about specific steps you can take to create a healthier, more balanced way of living that prioritises self-compassion and acceptance over unattainable standards.
These prompts are designed to encourage deep reflection and self-compassion, helping you to soften perfectionism and cultivate a healthier, more balanced approach to life. Happy journaling!
