From The Adventure of I, " Whenever possible, refuse to take difficult days too seriously; deny yourself the misguided comfort of self-pity; learn to trust Life no matter what is going on; banish doubt and don't forget that nothing stays the same forever- everything changes."
"once you understand that habits can change, you have the freedom and responsibility to remake them." - Charles Duhigg
this prompt from the Open App I use for meditation made me think about the habits I've changed this year and how finding the "things" that were so important for the change in habits combined with a shift in my perspective on how to view habits led to real changes and results. we revisit the analogy of the record player and implementing the habits of your future self to make the change today easier and lasting.
your habits will be an integral part of your PRST--for the positive or the negative, it's up to you to decide.
Harry Arnett is the co-founder and CEO of the sport utility gear company Municipal. In this episode he shares the decision to launch Municipal with his partners in the middle of the pandemic, how he came to the decision to leave a comfortable, "safe", and enjoyable job to bet on himself, and lessons he's learned along the way. This is a special episode as it was an opportunity to speak with a founder and entrepreneur building a brand that stands for more than just the clothes they create--they have a deeper mission and one that aligns with PRST. Harry is someone I respect and look up to and it was an amazing opportunity to spend an hour with him...hopefully, round two will happen as we discuss in the episode.

Much of the conversation on The PRST podcast channel is what you should be doing for yourself as you go on your PRST. In today's Motivational Monday we shift the focus to what you can be doing for others and how the act of genuine giving is important to your journey. In order to be in the position to one day receive you need to have given in the past. By giving more than you receive you create an inbalance in the Universe that it seeks to bring into balance. Gary V. is famous for his "jab, jab, punch" which is suggesting the same thing.
Credit to Derek Siver's "give, give, give and sometimes you will receive" which inspired today's episode.
Joseph Campbel said, "...each of us is a completely unqiue creature and that if we are ever to give any gift to the world, it will have to come out of our own experience and fulfillment of our own pontentialities, not someone else's". If you're not sure what your gift might be, tap into your passions to be your guide.
Credit to The Mindful Athlete by George Mumford for hightlighting today's quote.
The ultimate goal is to create a life filled with passion, which means you don't need to find and focus on just ONE passion. The things and people in your life can range in level of passion and I encourage you to try to fill your life with more that you have a passion for and minimize the things and people you do not. Tap in to hear more and a quote to kick your week off to a good and focused start!
This episode of On Our PRST with Ryan Russell is a special one--we get to hear an inspiring story of building Twenty Over Ten, a company focusing on building modern and stylish websites for financial advisors, by following his passion for design.
In addition to helping build Twenty Over Ten to a company purchased by FMG Suite, Ryan is also a tenured professor at Penn State University, a designer and consultant, and more importantly a husband and father to three.
In the second part of the conversation, we move beyond Ryan's passion for design and building Twenty Over Ten to the shift in priorities due to a recent medical diagnosis--a grade 4 glioblastoma. Ryan shares how he processed the news, how it shifted his focus, and what he realized was the most important aspect of his life.
This is just the first time Ryan and I will chop it up on the podcast. I will be making a trip to Pennsylvania to record with him in person after he finishes his treatments and is victorious over his glioblastoma.
"The vibration of being who you are and doing what you love is magnetic. You will align everything you need in your life with that energy."
