An Instagram Story highlighting a tweet by WealthSquad Chris is the inspiration for today's quick episode.
"Cars, clothes, and jewelry will only keep you excited for so long. As you mature you realize the real wealth is in your health, relationships, freedom, quality of decisions, ability to express yourself and to be proud of what you see in the mirror."
Boxx the Artist is a visual artist in Indianapolis who took a chance and bet on herself to become a full time artist after being laid off twice in a period of a few years.
Rather than allow her future to be dictated by the decisions of others, Boxx sacrificed, worked hard, and believed in herself and is now living out her passion each day.
There is a fine line between "acting as if" you are something you are not quite yet and "embodying" the person you desire to be. One is external and materialistic and the other is internal and emotional.
Tune in to hear which is which.
On a recent trip to New York City I lucked into hopping into Salah's cab at LaGuardia Airport and was treated to an inspiring conversation with him about his decision to leave Algeria at the age of 24 to go to NYC where he had a friend that was living there. His perspective on the opportunities in front of him in the US and his optimism about how he would continue to improve his life was inspiring to say the least. When we arrived at my hotel we made arrangements for him to pick me up the next morning for my return trip to LaGuardia.
That night as I thought about our conversation earlier in the morning I decided I was going to capture some of Salah's story with my camera and make a Short about the risk he took to improve his life.
I hope you enjoy this conversation and as Salah says at the end, take risks in your life.
In this "inbetween" episode, I share a little about my trip to NYC and dive into a quote about the law of atttraction and how oure mind is a magnet for our thoughts.
Before Austin Keen was a world champion skim boarder he could be found working odd jobs to afford him the lifestyle to pursue his passion for skim boarding, surfing, skateboarding, and other action sports.
In this episode of On Our PRST, hear how Austin navigated his way from Savannah, Georgia to California in pursuit of turning his love of action sports into his career.
In addition to be a world champion Austin is a content creator, business owner, brand representative, and on a mission to pour into others.
Austin shares a number of important lessons that apply to everyone's PRST.
"If you are at the helm of your mind, then someone or something else is."
Your mind, your thoughts, and you emotions are important directors of your PRST and if you aren't controlling them, then someone or something else is and ultimately they are controlling your journey.
Each month I spend the morning of the third Thursday with Derick Grant. We've been doing this for well over a year now and we've always talked about recording our conversation with no plan for the content.
August was the first time we hit record and there were tons of valuable nuggets in film. Many of these short clips have been circulating around social media and today's episode of The PRST is a short segment where we talk about our inner creator.
Let's get to The PRST...
Picking up where we left off in yesterday's Souful Sunday on our Alex WealthVoice Skill, we discuss an important concept...you, and only you, control your happiness.
I just got back from a few days in California for a professional conference and I spent a good amount of my time talking with other financial advisors about how we're working with out clients. I was excited to hear more advisors discuss the implementation or the move toward life planning.
As someone on their Pursuit and creating life on your terms, life planning is going to be an important part of your journey--it's more than just financial planning. It's identifying the life you want and building your financial life around it.
