I've been on an evolution as financial advisor over the last 17 1/2 years and have ultmately arrived at the realization that financial planning will eventually evolve into a practice that helps clients fit their finances to thei life...not the other way around, which is where the profession is for the most part.
Once you find your passion, your calling, etc. it's time to take an honest look at your finances and figure out what you need an how to make the life you want work.
Continuing with some financial concepts for your Pursuit, today's episode covers some of the types of accounts you can have your dollars in and how to begin to think about where to allocate money and how to make sure you have access to capital when/if needed.
This not financial advice but an introduction to concepts for you to begin researching or asking your financial advisor about.
It's time to incorporate some finance to your Pursuit to eliminate the obstacle of money as the reason for not pursuing your passion and life you want.
In this episode, we start with some of the basics before moving on to more creative ways of viewing your financial plan...no creativity without the foundation firmly in tact.
It's the 100th episode on the PRST Podcast channel and we're going a different direction with today's Monday Motivation.
The motivation comes via a challenge to gain more control over your thoughts and words to align yourself with the Universe to bring more of what you want into your life.
We look at the story of Jim Carrey getting his first big check via the book Quantum Warrior by John Kehoe to show the power of the mind.
We've discussed how we were created to create before on the podcast. In today's episode I share how I've grown to learn that our inner creator is actually our guide on our Pursuit.
Peter Attia introduced a concept he borrowed from Annie Duke called backcasting on the Rich Roll Podcast. This concept starts by looking at the future things we want to be able to do, his are health focused, and working backwards to make sure we are able to do those things.
For some reason, reverse engineering like this clicks with me and immediately changed my perspecitve on my health lifestyle and how I approach taking care of myself.
The R in PRST stands for relationships but it's not only about the relationships that serve you it's about the relationships where you are serving others.
Don't forget to make time to help others when they seek your advice and guidance.
We just dropped Silas off at his new school for the first time and as I drove over I couldn't help but think about how he is starting a new chapter and how his feelings going into ths change are not that different from the one we feel as we start new chapters.
It's an awesome feeling to be able to highlight friends on Mondays--it also highlights the importance of the R in PRST...being surrounded by others who push you to be better.
Ashby Daniels is a financial advisor with a great practice--one that he would not have to focus on growing much more to live the life that he wants. Ashby is also a creator and has discovered a passion and skill for writing about financial topics. He's taken this passion to build a secondary business writing financial planning and market briefs that financial advisors can use to communicate with their clients. Money Visuals is quickly growing in the advisor community and will soon rival his career as a financial advisor.
Ashby is a perfect example of allowing your inner creator out, creating, sharing, and seeing where it goes.
As Ryan Holiday explains in 7/31's Daily Stoic, your career is not a life sentence. Our Pursuit is about creating the life that will bring us the maximum amount of happiness and minimal amount of regret and there is no escaping the need to work.
Your Pursuit should be to find a career that you enjoy, allows you to express yourself, but provides the ability to be more than your career.
