Emily Binder is the founder of WealthVoice, a voice technology platform leading the way for content on home audio devices, and has followed her passion for marketing and branding by betting on herself and blazing her own path and doing it on her terms.
In addition to discussing her Pursuit we also dive into how the Universe communicates with us and winks at us from time to time in what she calls Beetle Moments.
Where is the line between faking it til you make it vs. embodying your future self? When do you cross the line between doing it for yourself and doing it for others?
Only you can answer those questions and know when that line has been crossed.
One of my close friends hit me with a text yesterday....would you rather be underpaid or overrated?
There's no right answer and no judgement to be made with your answer but it's something worth thinking about on your Pursuit.
I'd rather be underpaid.
Derick Grant is a name you've heard mentioned on the PRST podcast channel many times and you will continue to. It's time to finally highlight Derick's Pursuit and how he transitioned from one passion, basketball, to another, mindset coaching.
I'm lucky to call him a friend and thrilled to share more about him.
Be sure to follow him at dgmindset.com
In order to make the PRST Short DJ Daro FinTwit's Favorite DJ, I had to cut some great parts of our conversation. I couldn't let the comments that didn't make the film go to waste, so we have the raw conversation between Odaro and me for today's episode of The PRST.
You also get to see a little behind the scenes of how I make the Shorts, which I explain in the intro.
If you haven't seen the Short yet, head over to YouTube and give us a subscribe while you are there so we can work our way to a custom URL.
When focusing on the S in PRST most of the attention goes to activities for our bodies, mental, and emotional health...but what we put INTO our bodies is just as important, potentially even more important.
If you're serious about your Pursuit, revisiting what you are consuming is going to be an important exercise. I'm not here to suggest what is best for you, as I believe different people need different diets and routines, but I do know most of us are conusming foods we should just give up.
As we focus on the 'S' this week, I wanted to share a quote I saw from a friend of mine on Twitter. It's a simple prescription for how to best take care of yourself and a reminder that we cannot take care of others until we take care of ourselves.
I also have a special guest who joined me today...tune in to hear who it is.
I'm positive you have people in your life or whom you follow that have gone on their own Pursuit--so today, rather than listen to a story from me look at how that person in your life followed their passion and changed their life.
Short answer: nothing--at least it shouldn't stop your Pursuit. Instead, the current economic environment should fuel your desire to pursue your passion and create the life you want to live. After all, whether you are feeling fulfilled or unfulfilled in your life, it doesn't change what happens in the markets, economy, or world---so why not do more of what you love and can control?
We also talk about a few financial planning concepts to think about when on your Pursuit.
Steven Pressfield provides a great comparison between individuals acting as amatuers and professionals in the endeavors they pursue. We'll take a quick look at when he realized he was a professional and discuss the difference, according to Steven, between the two.
Will you be, or are you already, acting as a professional on your Pursuit?
