As we get older and spend more time on this planet, we often create and experience what might be dubbed turmoils and trauma. But these aren’t always bad.
These biologically intense experiences often create tensions, emotional patterns, and behaviors. As a result, we unwittingly change our instinctive reaction to life.
But this doesn't always have to be an accident. Consciously creating those kinds of experiences while also deliberately redirecting the response in the body generated what might be dubbed "positive trauma", or what one author and researcher calls transformation through turmoil.
Today we’ll talk more about this. Have a listen.
Highlights:
- If trauma is defined as a seed idea at a time during physical or biological intensity, then there’s no need to call it good or bad. (8:45)
- “Do you know the type of intensity and care that has an intention that is good for you?” (15:30)
- Being grateful for not just the results, but the process of trauma as well, was refreshing. (17:25)
- There are ways to court this conscious discomfort. (29:00)
- Oftentimes, the way out is in. In resisting discomfort, we are keeping it around. (31:40)
