Kavi Guppta is a singer songwriter, drummer, writer and public speaker. I grew up with Kavi, and with him on drums we began our musical journey at the same time. He has since returned to drums with, Ricky Dean and the Dream Machine. We discuss early influences, including his first writing job on Ed the Sock’s night party, and starting a blog which lead him to writing for Forbes Magazine. We talk about being yourself and doing right by you, regardless of whatever everyone else is doing.

Episode 20 of All About The Song Podcast is with Tal Vaisman, a songwriter, producer and guitar player in the Ascot Royals. Tal grew up in Israel, and moved to Vancouver with a hard rock band, who then moved to Toronto. After the band broke, Tal threw himself into engineering school at Metalworks institute. During his time there, Tal met members of what would become the band he would join, Ascot Royals. Tal works as a music producer and songwriter, and develops young artists and others alike.

Peter Serrado is a singer songwriter working on his debut album. We talk about his feeling at an early age that he may be good at music, and his start competing in The Long and McQuade Singing Contest with John Santos, which he won. He took the confidence earned by the win to continue his pursuit of music as a career, performing in Toronto and heading to Lisbon, Portugal and appearing in the finals of Festival da Canção this year.

Anne Douris is a singwriter songwriter and performs under the moniker, Bossie.  Bossie is set to release their debut album, “Not Pictured” on April 27th and will be performing live at The Baby G in Toronto on May 5th in support of it.  We discuss finding your way in a social media world, developing your artistry as a solo act, and the wonderful feeling of working with a band that supports your music.

Mookie Morris is a singer-songwriter and guitar player. Mookie started playing music at the age of 12, before being featured on Canadian Idol. We talk about Mookie’s wild foray into live shows, his early teenage bands, and reaching his early dreams by being signed to Sony Music at 18, and the aftermath of being on the other side. With Owen Norquay on Bass, and Luis Figueroa on Drums, The Mooks are releasing new singles every two weeks with “Going Steady and “It’s Not Easy” so far released.

Hill Kourkoutis is a songwriter, producer, multi instrumentalist and film maker. She has performed alongside, Serena Ryder, The Weeknd, Tara Slone and more. We talk about Hill’s early roots playing music in Toronto while in high school, and how it has lead her to her work as an in demand producer. We discuss early songwriting, following your passions, and waiting for the creative muse to take you on your next journey. Hill was recently part of CTV’s The Launch as a member of the house band.

Sean Ward is a professional youtuber, rapper, cartoonist and MC. We talk about his beginnings selling comic books on the Toronto streets, to now having an office overlooking the spot he sold his first comic. His highly successful Youtube page, The Sean Ward Show (Superhero fan parody series) has crossed the 1 million subscriber-ship mark, and is also about to hit 1 billion views. Sean has an album, “I want to get to you personally”, which will be released in the upcoming months.

Episode # 14 - Shaina Silver-Baird (Ghost Caravan)

Shaina Silver-Baird is a singer, songwriter, and actor who is currently performing musically as Ghost Caravan. We talk about developing in the arts through school and early performance, taking a passion to post secondary, and putting out your work. How small efforts every day lead to bigger things, and how you never know who could be listening to your music, and what that can lead to.

Ruslan Nebesov is a violin player, who performs with the group Jumple, as well as performing in the subway with the TTC. We go through five of Ruslan’s favourite songs, discuss them and then Ruslan performs them for us. In the podcast intro, we are joined by Mike Sleath, who is currently performing drums with Shawn Mendes. We touch base with Mike and discuss what he’s been up to since we last spoke to him on Episode 5.

Branko Scekic is an MC, entertainer, freestyle rapper, and former bass player with Dinosaur Bones and Makeshift Heroes.  We discuss the benefits of being in a group, finding your true community, and the responsibility of making sure everyone is having a great time.
