We don't have to look around very much to see that in this world, evil seems to be winning. No matter where you look - tragedy, pain and suffering seem to be lurking around the corner. But - that isn't what God created - instead it is a byproduct of sin in the world. And there is coming a future day when God will judge sin and evil with finality - destroying it forever.

That's the moment that Jesus ushers in when he opens the scroll - beginning to bring judgement against the sin in the world.

As we continue with our series in Revelation - we follow John as he is given a glimpse into the heavenly realm. Here, we see God on his throne and witness him giving Jesus the scroll that when opened will usher in the judgment of the world. This is a moment that will absolutely come to pass in the future - and God graciously gives us a glimpse now.

This week we are going to dig into these letters that were sent to 7 actual churches and the messages that still apply for us today that we must not ignore. We will look at the praise and warning that Jesus gives for the church that He loves.

Many people approach Revelation with the intention of discovering how the end will happen. I still remember my own fascination with this final book of the Bible through reading the Left Behind book series and digging into as many different explanations of what this vision really means. While the book of Revelation has the important purpose of revealing to us the things that will happen it has a purpose that is even more important but can be overlooked. Revelation is not only Jesus revealing the future, it is Jesus revealing Himself.

None of us have experienced anything quite like what is going on in our world today. There seems to be an unnerving, eerie feeling that’s pervasive right now. Streets are abandoned, store shelves are empty, people are isolated, and it feels just a little bit “apocalyptic.” This current pandemic has many people thinking about what the end will be like and while we don't know when the end will come...Jesus shares some signs that will help us be ready.
