  • "I think my friend is being sexually abused..."

Tom and Will tackle one of the most sensitive, shame-ridden, and serious topics young people face: sexual abuse.

A young listener suspects his friend is being sexually abused by a family member and wants to help. Tom draws on his personal experience with sexual trauma to offer guidance in how to move forward. He also tries to explain how the internal conflict - heavy with guilt and shame - can be a barrier to victims in coming forward and seeking help in situations like this.

  • I’m struggling in school for the first time. I feel so dumb!

Tom invites his friend Elvir to join the podcast for a conversation about struggling with academics. Elvir’s experience coming to this country as a refugee in the 8th grade without speaking English, as well as his garbage GPA in high school, offers a unique perspective on overcoming academic challenges and negative self-talk. Tom cautions this young woman against getting trapped in the lie that she is “dumb.”

  • EavesDROP: "I've never felt pretty. I don't want to end up alone. How do I stop feeling like this?"

EavesDROPs are stand-alone excerpts from the "All the $#!T" podcast to highlight key takeaways from these conversations.

Tom and Annah tackle one of the most HUMAN challenges we all face: learning to love who we see in the mirror. Annah shares her experience living with a negative self-image and laments the years she spent trying to be what she thought OTHERS wanted her to be, rather than learning who she was and what SHE liked.

This is a message for all the young women out there, encouraging them to cut the bonds of social expectations and discover their true, authentic selves.

  • Quick Hit Weekly: Am I capable of being a leader?

Tom and Will add a new twist to the show, tackling questions from teens about the challenges they’re facing in their lives.

One young person with an interest in running for class counsel is having second thoughts at the last minute, questioning whether or not they’re capable of leading. They are intimidated by other kids, who are low-key bullying this individual for being a bit different. Tom and Will encourage them to GO FOR IT, while sharing their own experience with impostor syndrome, self-doubt, and leadership.

Another young person is complaining about fatigue and back pain after their first few days at a new (first) job. Tom and Will throw a little tough love their way, offering a few ways to mitigate the initial discomfort, and encouraging them to start taking their health and fitness a little more seriously.

  • Quick Hit Weekly: WHAT is right vs. WHO is right ... and sometimes we FIGHT!

Tom and Will adopt Bolek’s “go with the flow” approach to life in this meandering conversation, which includes a heated debate on trans athletes’ right to compete while lamenting their own diminishing athletic prowess. Tom suggests a method to help women appeal to the “protector” mentality in their men when they want them to do something. The guys also applaud the tenacity and courage of immigrants, while recognizing their own privilege despite lackluster SAT performances. Will calls Tom out for starting CrossFit out of jealousy, which leads to sharing stories about getting into fights as younger men.

Tom and Will highlight their weeks, punctuated with bad parenting and an encounter with an endangered timber rattlesnake.
