Pythias, a loyal supporter of the king, once made a simple request: that his son might be exempted from military service. The result? His son was cut in two. Making a request of the King is dangerous business for Esther, too, but unlike Pythias, Esther is in the will of God.

Doubt. Little by little it gnaws away at the soul. Now to be sure, there are times when Christianity seems to make all the sense in the worldwhen the mysteries of the faith appear so certain that it would be foolish even to call them into question, and yet there are also times when we have our doubts.

Donald Grey Barnhouse was - for half a century - one of the most widely acclaimed American preachers. Scholarly exposition and a popular approach marked his teaching as well as a passion for Making God's Word Plain. Listen and find out why an unyielding faith, devotion to Christ, innovation, and great energy marked his ministry.

At the very heart of our Christian faith is a precious red substance: the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The sin-atoning death of Christ is remarkable for being at once, most offensive to the world, most treasured by the church, most astonishing to the mind, and most stirring to the soul. The one thing we would least expect to hear about God is that He sent His own Son to die for our sins. Thus it is Christs precious blood that puts amazing into grace, wonderful into the Gospel, and marvelous into Gods salvation plan. The cross is a theme that Christians will meditate on forever without exhausting its wonder. And of the cross, Gods redeemed will sing with glorious praise to unending ages.

Dr. R. C. Sproul

Human government is part of Gods plan. He established the leaders of Israel, and they were to exercise their authority in His name. But like most human governments, those leaders soon forgot Whom it was that granted them power.

On a fateful night in Susa, two men are sleepless, both thinking of the same man: Mordecai. The King wants to honor him, giving a rich reward to the man who has saved his life. Haman, on the other hand, has just the opposite in mind as he spends his night plotting to build gallows on which to hang the Jew who has vexed him for so long.

Have you ever looked at a work of modern art and been puzzled as to its message or purpose? So much of the art in the world today seems to be odd that we find it hard to fit it into our Christian world-view. But whats the bigger question what role do the arts play in the church today? What does God say about the arts? And what kind of art glorifies God?

Dr. Robert Godfrey

The world sometimes points to Gods people as hypocrites because we say one thing but do another, and sometimes that observation is correct. The Israelites were no different. While their worship may have seemed happy and joyful, the Lord knew their heartsand while they claimed to love Him, they would not listen and obey.
