Liam Goligher reminds us that we must see both God and Satan in Scripture, and nowhere is that more evident than in the Book of Esther. An invisible war rages in Susa between the forces of evil and the people of God. Esther and Mordecai have been caught up in that war and have become players in it. But they are not mere pawns.

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is? Its easy to wonder -- we dont always feel like our lives are achieving any greatness. Well, there is a purpose...but with all the difficulties and distractions of daily life, it is easy for us to get lost in the details.

Donald Grey Barnhouse was - for half a century - one of the most widely acclaimed American preachers. Scholarly exposition and a popular approach marked his teaching as well as a passion for Making God's Word Plain. Listen and find out why an unyielding faith, devotion to Christ, innovation, and great energy marked his ministry.

At the very heart of our Christian faith is a precious red substance: the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The sin-atoning death of Christ is remarkable for being at once, most offensive to the world, most treasured by the church, most astonishing to the mind, and most stirring to the soul. The one thing we would least expect to hear about God is that He sent His own Son to die for our sins. Thus it is Christs precious blood that puts amazing into grace, wonderful into the Gospel, and marvelous into Gods salvation plan. The cross is a theme that Christians will meditate on forever without exhausting its wonder. And of the cross, Gods redeemed will sing with glorious praise to unending ages.

Dr. Robert Godfrey

The Gospel, itself, hangs on an historical factthat Jesus died on the cross of Calvary. The history of the Bible helps us to understand who God isnot a god of our imaginations but a God who invades history to accomplish His purposes. The writers of Scripture laid out that history to remind Gods people that certain actions must not be repeated.

The news of the coming destruction of her people reaches Esther. While she is deeply distressed, her human nature tells her that there is little she can do. Perhaps, she reasons, harm wont come to me since I am the queen. Esther sees both her duty and her destiny as queen. Its a duty not only to save her people, but also to halt the plans of antichrist himself acting through Haman, a man of formidable power.

We often describe our Christian communities as a body of believers or Gods church family. You might call yourself a believer or a follower of Christ. But do you ever think of yourself as a priest, or as part of a royal priesthood?
