In this heartfelt episode of Tendrils of Grief, we welcome Cleo Childs, a spoken word artist who recently released her debut poetry album, "Moving With", on May 15th. This deeply personal collection is the result of two and a half years of writing, chronicling Cleo's profound journey through grief after losing her mother to Alzheimer's when she was just 28 years old.
Cleo’s passion for writing is deeply rooted in her family history. With her mother as an English major and her grandmother—a 30-year English teacher—now serving as one of her editors, Cleo naturally turned to poetry as her tool for processing grief. Through her spoken word album, she explores the evolution of her emotions, from having her mother, to losing her, and finally arriving at a place of peace and acceptance.
With "Moving With", Cleo aims to provide an authentic and honest portrayal of grief, creating a space of connection and understanding for others navigating loss. Her hope is to show that no one has to grieve alone and to foster a sense of community in shared experiences.
Join us as Cleo shares her story, her creative process, and the transformative power of using art to navigate loss and find healing. This is an episode full of raw emotion, creative inspiration, and a reminder that grief, though isolating, can be a journey we don’t have to take alone.
