What we give our money, our time and our attention to… are the things that really matter to us. And it is this type of change that we have seen in our world in this past couple decades. 
This change has made a significant impact on our culture. The desires of the heart has taken many people away from the things of God.

The message that God delivered through the prophet Isaiah was that people are like flowers and their faithfulness is like grass that fades and withers
away. 
And yet God’s people can look to the Lord our God and his Word for comfort and strength because his promises are reliable and eternal. That is where faith comes from.

Pastor Ron leads us in a message about how we can navigate the world we live in, and yet stay steadfast in our faith when everything else seems to be falling apart.

We're spending the next five weeks studying the frameworks developed by the early Church as we consider what's next for us as followers of Jesus

The first of those frameworks is
UNITY OVER DIVISION

Unity hasn't always been easy for humans... not even when Jesus was alive and amongst us. But after Jesus died and rose, the people of the time came together to be united in prayer.  They made a choice to be united.  And it was difficult. There were times when arguments and disagreements led to division.... sound familiar?

Unity is a continual commitment - we have to work at it. BUT what unites us in Christ is more precious than what can divide us in the world.

It's our last week (for now) studying Psalm 23 together - but don't stop coming back to this beautiful passage as much as you can. Because what you'll come to find to be true is that God never tires of us and our concerns. He forever is our good shepherd here to guide, nourish, and care for all of us.

The question now remains - when was the last time we preached the gospel to ourselves? The message that Jesus loves us, died for us, and is with us... when was the last time you took a look at the valley you're in and breathed deep the goodness of God?

This passage is as much for YOU as it is for your neighbor. We encourage you to take a look at this passage and ask yourself, what does this mean to me?

Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live.

It goes without saying... we are anxious. And for many of us that anxiety and worry takes over our hearts and our minds. Research shows that, yes, many of us believe in a spiritual presence but if we're honest, most of us feel a total loss of hope regardless of what we believe is true.

That's why we come back week after week to Psalm 23. The psalmist knows that WHEN we walk through hard times or are challenged by our enemies we need to be reminder that GOD IS WITH US. Not only is this the message of Psalm 23 but it's the hope that is promised throughout the entire Bible. God is near, He is restoring everything to His perfect will, and God is love.

As we continue our meditation on Psalm 23 we are honored to have Reverend Al Salgado lead us through verses 3-4...

3 He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name's sake. 4 Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-- they comfort me. (Ps. 23:3-4 CSB)

Here... the psalmist knows that he is the sheep and that God is the good shepherd. He knows God's promises are true, and He (God)  will provide the restoration and rejuvenation our souls need. Though we are weary and burdened - God is here.

As you listen to the words God has put on Reverend Al's heart to speak remember..
"concerning our souls… following anything but God will always lead to depletion, but following God will always lead to completion."

And consider... how can you spend 5 exclusive minutes with God daily going forward?

We're beginning our new year, 2023, on REST. 

Throughout this time, we're learning what it means to prepare and participate in God's call for us to rest.

Psalm 23, a testimony of David, reminds us that the LORD is our good Shepard, he welcomes us to be still in His presence, and He provides for us as we lean into a closer relationship with Him.

Happy New Year!

We're spending January 1, 2023 studying what Jesus said about the end of times... not in the Book of Revelations but in Matthew.

Jesus cautions us to be on alert of false prophets projecting about the end of times. He himself says only God knows when this will be... Jesus does not want us to be consumed by what's to come at the end... instead Jesus came to show us how to LIVE day-by-day. To pursue a relationship with our Heavenly Father, to love one another as brothers and sisters, and to care for all of God's creation. Here and now. 

Jesus came to show us how to be ready for whatever comes our way. What if we lived every day in this new year (and beyond) leaning more and more into the characteristics of Jesus and the plans God has for us?

It's the fourth week of Advent - and we're celebrating the Prince of Peace.

Jesus is THE promise of our creator for all of us... not just some of us, not just those back then and when... but today for all of us. 

But today it seems we forget that this promise is still here for us - in our struggles or joys, our normal day-to-day, Jesus is here and he is waiting for you to invite Him into your day-to-day.

Today's message "The Gift of Preparation" isn't about getting ready for Christmas or celebrating this specific birthday for Jesus - it's about being prepared continually for the reasons God has given you life.  Pastor Ron reminds us of the gift that prepares you for living each day of your life in the grace of God and it prepares you for life eternal with Jesus. This gift is not only important, but it is essential if we want to live our life Evergreen… meaning alive in Jesus all year long. 

And this gift of preparation begins with a pre-Christmas story. The stories in the Bible are there to teach us and help us understand God’s purpose for our life. Like an athlete prepares for their time to be in action - so must be we prepare our hearts, minds, and attitudes towards God's calling.

How many of you have heard…  
• God created you on purpose for a purpose
• Live into your God-given purpose
• You were made for such a time as this

The reality is – these are completely true – YOU are created on purpose, and God has purpose for your life. When you surrender and seek a relationship with God, He will direct your path into the purpose he has for you. You ARE made for such a time as this! And God, designing us for His purpose to love him and show love to others, has given us all various gifts to lean into this purpose. Gifts to encourage others, to teach one another, gifts to lead and help and care for one another. 

This season we want to be filled with joy and purpose and hope but to be honest, I think a lot of us feel fairly beat up, tired, unsure that we’re still able to have purpose or that God has a purpose for us.  Our series Evergreen is a call for us to live out the spirit and hope of this season all year around... but what if we don't believe anymore that God is still working in us after all we've been through? That's the message our live stream producer, Anne, shares today.
