For this episode I am so excited to be joined by Joel Visentin! A Toronto-based keyboardist and composer, Joel is a proud Winnipeg export with a passion for the keyboards. As a busy working musician in Toronto he has worked with a number of celebrated world class musicians. In 2015, he co-founded the trio JV’s Boogaloo Squad. They have since worked their way up through the national club circuit, recently headlining at major jazz festivals throughout Ontario and Québec including Toronto’s International Jazz Festival in 2018. Their 2019 album, Going To Market, has reached #6 on US Campus Jazz Radio charts as well as number #29 on JazzWeek’s chart for US commercial Radio. Joel has also been the keyboardist for Toronto-based Phish tribute band The Lizards since its inception in 2013. Listen as we dive into our favourite versions of Halley's Comet, talk democratic vs. dictatorship jamming, and how The Lizards approach setlists and improvisation!

Drew is an internationally renowned soloist, clinician and speaker having appeared in over 40 states and 30 countries. He has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra, U.S. Army Blues, Alarm Will Sound and the Marine Band of Mexico. Drew is also proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the Mockingbird Foundation, a non-profit which has awarded grants in all 50 states totaling over $1.9 million to help bring music education to children. Joe is the keyboardist, producer, and one of many songwriters for Pluto Gang, a high-energy jam soul band out of Charlotte, North Carolina. They started playing shows in the winter of 2019, just before the global pandemic, and then spent the last year refining their live show and self-recording their debut album Better Out Here, which came out in November of 2020. Check out their social media pages for info on how to catch them live this spring and summer! Joe saw his first phish show in 2014 and racked up 63 more between 2016 and 2019. Join us in this episode as we talk Scents, Mike's unique approach to playing bass, the "yes, and..." improvisational method, and more!
