The conversation centres on the essence of community and its boundless nature beyond geography.
The discussion delves into how community is not defined by physical proximity but by shared values, alignment, and intentionality.
Abbie and Ryan reflect on their own experiences of building communities in various parts of the world, from university to international travels, emphasising that community lives within individuals and can manifest wherever they go.
They explore the enablers and barriers of both online and physical communities, discussing the efforts required to maintain connection, especially when members are geographically dispersed.
The conversation highlights the power of intentionality in bringing people together, whether through scheduled gatherings or opportunities for contribution.
They stress that a thriving community values every member's input, fostering a sense of belonging, empowerment, and mutual respect.
The episode also touches on deeper aspects of alignment, authenticity, and resonance, suggesting that communities thrive when individuals live in alignment with their values and strengths.
They use examples like retreats and personal experiences of connection, showing how physical and emotional presence can create powerful communal bonds.
Ultimately, the conversation concludes that community is not bound by location but is a collective effort of hearts and minds, united by shared purpose and authenticity.
As they wrap up, the hosts encourage listeners to embrace their role in creating and expanding communities wherever they are, driven by the belief that we are all part of a larger, interconnected whole.

Johann van Graan is a world-class coach and in his role as Head of Rugby is responsible for the rugby programme at Bath Rugby.
He holds complete responsibility for rugby matters concentrating on the coaching and performances of the team, overseeing all coaching and performance staff.
Van Graan began his professional coaching at the Blue Bulls, and under Head Coach Heyneke Meyer, with focus on forwards and attack, he helped the South African franchise win three Super 14 titles.
He moved on to become the Springboks Forwards Coach, winning the bronze medal at the 2015 Rugby World Cup before becoming Munster Head Coach in 2017.

Throughout his career van Graan has developed a long line of players who have gone on to feature regularly on the international stage for Ireland, South Africa, England, Wales and Scotland.

Your purpose may deeply inspire you. It may also deceive you. Be called. But don't let it call you beyond the borders of where you are irreplaceable.
Make sure those you love most get the best of you rather than the rest of you.
Your life's work will never cause you to make the ones you love suffer your absence OR presence. Only you do that. By not being intentional where you matter most.

Your leadership has to send people home better for those who need them. At work they are replaceable. At home, they are irreplaceable.
How might the world of work be different if we made a commitment to send our people home better for those whom they are irreplaceable?
