Today I will be talking with representatives of Dementia Action Alliance, known as DAA, about their upcoming conference being held September 19-21, 2022, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union Station in Downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

Laurie Scherrer was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's & FTD at the age of 55 and was able to continue a professional career so she turned her focus towards helping others through their dementia journey.  John-Richard Pagan is living with Lewy Bodies Dementia.  He no longer fears his dementia diagnosis, in large part due to Dementia Action Alliance. Cyndy Luzinski is an advanced practice nurse and the founder and executive director of Dementia Together, a nonprofit organization in Northern Colorado which cultivates joy while building stronger connections for those living with dementia, their care partners, and the community.

Lori La Bey talks with Olivier Constant, who has been responsible for the communication policy of the Flanders Centre of Expertise on Dementia for 10 years. The Expertise Centre operates as an official partner organization of the Flemish Government (Belgium) that works to spread research, good practices, and clear communication tools about care for people with any type of dementia. Lori La Bey talks with Mike and Kim Barnes who over the last five years have found themselves navigating problems they never saw coming from their parents: Alzheimer's, pacemakers, COVID, pneumonia, and the tough decision to move parents into retirement communities.  They've learned to balance the many facets of parenting aging parents and parenting their college-age kids, while building their own careers.  Together they've realized that so many adult children go through the same trials with their parents, yet hardly anyone talks about it. Most families struggle in silence. That's why they created a community to provide information, resources, and support.
