Today we will hear from two English Rose dementia experts, Katie Rinehimer, their Director of Quality of Life and Zach Parlier, their Director of Team Member Development.  The English Rose Wellbeing Model of Care will be discussed along with examples of how utilizing this model has positively impacted their residents. 

English Rose has been providing residential care for those with memory loss since 1997.  They have experienced how many individuals with memory loss thrive in a smaller scale home environment with a significant focus on wellbeing.  The challenge is that wellbeing is different for every individual, and the factors contributing to wellbeing often change.  Unlike a purely medical approach to health, the English Rose care model centers on wellbeing and you will see that’s where they shine

Lori La Bey talks with the founders of AECorner.  They created their company, because they were seeing too many seniors struggling every day to care for themselves. They found most of their clients had the same goal, to remain as independent as possible in their homes. These women take their jobs seriously and work tirelessly to help seniors safely age in place and also  assist Care Partners to work smarter, not harder while providing daily care. People around the world will learn of the African culture and how their beliefs there are very different most other parts of the globe.  This is essential to know in order to raise awareness and educate the public in Africa, as Berrie Holtzhausen will tell us today. Most of us understand the disease is the same all over the globe, but the challenges can be very different and difficult to overcome if cultural beliefs aren't incorporated.  We will learn how influencing these beliefs is happening through Berrie and his work through Alzheimer Dementia Namibia by shifting mindsets of old beliefs to heartsets recognizing the humanness of each and every person.  Learn how you can help too.
