Our Host, Lori La Bey talks with Caroline Boxall. She is a mother of 5, a primary school teacher, a tutor, and an author.  Her connection with Dementia was through her mother-in-law who lived in a care home.  Caroline was inspired by her dementia journey to write a middle school age children’s book. Her book, "It's Been Raining in Moscow, And I Forgot My Umbrella," has done very well in the UK raising awareness of different types of dementia. Learn how Caroline added twists and turns to add intrigue to keep teenagers engaged and interested allowing them to learn about dementia.

Our Host, Lori La Bey will be talking with Diana Cose is the care partner, for her husband Lorenzo was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer's.  Diana and Lorenzo have children; and needless to say; she has seen the impact this disease has had on their own family.  She left Perspectives, a Chicago Charter School, to launch a new venture, Lorenzo's House.  Joining them will be Tessa McEwen is a licensed social worker for The Memory Center and the Outpatient Neurology Clinics at UChicago Medicine.  Their mission is to help those with cognitive impairment and memory loss to feel seen and heard by teaching others how to listen first with compassionate care. Tessa is on the co-founding team and medical sector co-lead for Dementia Friendly Hyde Park and serves on several boards and professional associations in the field for healthy aging, dementia care, and social work leadership in health care.

Today I’m thrilled to talk with my friend, Therese Zink, who is a family physician with a 30+ year career that includes caring for patients, teaching, research, and administration. During COVID she had her feet in 2 different worlds.  One caring for patients and the other foot advocating for a sister and mother in long term care.  Today we will be discussing Dr. Zink’s New Book: COVID Chronicles – How Essential Workers Cope; which I know you will find it as fascinating as I did.

Currently Dr Zink is a Professor at Brown University in Rhode Island and the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award.
