Becky Ford with the Community Action Center of Faribault and Northfield and Greg Ciesluk with State Farm Tony Langerud's office highlight an upcoming event to educate people about a housing program coming to Faribault. Ford tells us Northfield did a similar intiative in what was believed to be the first of it's kind in the nation. FREE hot dog meal is being served at the Langerud State Farm office in Faribault so people can stop by and learn more about the project. The plan is for two housing units for homeless and six market-rate housing units. The Faribault community is still short of housing availability.

John Sherwin goes over various information about crime prevention and school safety.

Council members Royal Ross and Adama Doumboya discuss various issues facing the city. The council is hoping to decide soon if they are going to ask the legislature for permission to request a 1% local option sales tax. The dollars would go toward construction of a new community center if approved by the voters next fall, Before the vote can be held the state has to grant the city permission to conduct the vote.

Dustin Dienst says the rainfall totals in the area over the weekend should not result in any major flooding in the Faribault area. We also touched on school safety with school starts just around the corner at Shattuck. MSAD & MSAB and the public schools, Bethlehem Academy and Divine Mercy Catholic.

Senator John Jasinski of Faribault and Representative Thomas Sexton of Waseca represent the Owatonna area in St. Paul. They touched on a variety of topics. The two Republicans said they enjoyed visiting with people at their GOP booth at the Steeele County Free Fair and praised fair organizers for their hard work.

A woman from Missouri makes custom made hats. A woman from Arlington makes Fruit Freezes for a healthy , cool snack. A man from Missouri also made custom made pens and some licorice in a variety of flavors including root beer , green apple and watermelon are featured.

Nort Johnson, Faribault Chamber President and Brad Meyer, Owatonna Chamber Chief talked about their join work on a number of opportunities in the region on the program which was broadcast from the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna.

We visited with four unique vendors at this year's Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna. One sells custom made hats, another custom pens, fruit freezes provide a healthy snack, and the other massage pillows. All are located in the Four Seasons Arena.
