Brian sits down with Dan to discuss musky fishing. Both have a love-hate relations ship with fly fishing for the "fish of 10,000 casts." They swap stories and tactics.
Dan started a fly shop during the pandemic selling only online. Dan blended his love for fly fishing and the lure of the Wisconsin musky with his new endeavor. Dan and his wife cater to the musky fly fishermen.
Dan and Brian get to know each other and talk about musky fishing in Wisconsin. Some history and controversies about who has what record. They talk set-ups, flies and share a few stories. Dan gives some advice for people who are interested in venturing down "a path less traveled."
Reach out to Dan for all your fly fishing needs. He does specialize in Musky, however, he does service all fly fisherman. Musky Fool carries cold and warm water fly fishing gear. Check them out!

Mike shares some of his spring travel to the area..... He has been hearing some great drumming while up that way.
Brian and Mike get to know each other in a casual conversation about grouse hunting (and other critters).

Friend of the Podcast, Trevor Hubbs, stops by and makes his debut appearance to shed some light on an issue that could impact WI for years to come. Trevor enlightened us on how your everyday sportsman can impact hunting changes/rules in Wisconsin.
We chat about some of Trevor's passions ranging from his dogs to his outreach as a veteran to other veterans. Trevor shares a bit about his company, Red Dog Outdoors Media.
Trevor also fills me in a Veterans Outdoors Act waiting for action by our federal leaders.
We also get to hear about some of his upcoming hunting trips. Specifically a spring bear hunt in Montana. He will be hunting when this is airing. Wish him good luck!
Make sure you are set up to get new episodes downloaded right away - you don't want to miss an upcoming episode on (hopefully) Trevor's successful bear hunt.

Brian shifts gears and discusses trout fishing with Greg Olson of Kiap-TU-Wish Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
We discuss what makes up the unique landscape within the chapter's streams. How that landscape has changed over time. A topic discussed was habitat restoration and what that looks like in a river/stream. This show couldn't be ended without discussing the Kinni and we shed light on an issue facing one of WI's most ICONIC trout streams.

Brian discusses Sharptail grouse with WI DNR Biologist Bob Hanson. We learn about what makes up the special habitat needs in WI for sharpies. Bob discusses some specific properties the state manages for these birds.
A special thanks to the WI Sharptail Grouse Society and the WI DNR for all the help on this mini-series.
Wisconsin's native prairie birds need your help. Sharptail grouse take a unique habitat management plan in WI moreover than other states. For that matter, so do prairie chickens and Bob White Quail as well. Please get involved and help manage the balance of development, restoration, and conservation for future hunters!
Donate and get involved! Help us improve the habitat for future generations and the possibility of a recreational population in the future. WE CAN DO THIS WITH YOUR HELP
