Who is RFK Jr.?
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) is an American lawyer and environmental activist. He is known for being critical of vaccines and promoting conspiracy theories, which has made him a controversial figure. RFK Jr. is the son of Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy (JFK).
Environmental Activist: An environmental activist is a person who works to protect the environment and fights against pollution and other problems that harm nature.
RFK Jr. is a well-known environmental activist who speaks out about climate change.

Third-Party Candidate: A third-party candidate is someone who runs for president but is not from one of the two main political parties (Democratic or Republican).
Example Sentence: In the 2024 election, some voters supported a third-party candidate instead of choosing between the main parties.
Never Trumper: A "Never Trumper" is a person, usually a Republican, who is strongly against Donald Trump and refuses to support him.
Example Sentence: Even though they are Republicans, some people call themselves Never Trumpers because they don’t agree with Trump’s views.

4. Rally
- : A large public meeting, especially for a political cause or protest.

How to Talk About Sleep in English
1. Drowsy Feeling sleepy or tired. After a long day at school, I felt very drowsy and wanted to take a nap. Taking medicine may cause you to feel drowsy.
2. Doze off To fall asleep, often unintentionally, or when you didn’t plan on it. He dozed off during the movie because he was so tired. If you doze off while driving, it could be super dangerous.
3. Count sheep To imagine sheep jumping over a fence to help you fall asleep. When I can't sleep, I count sheep to help me relax.
4. Nightmare A scary or bad dream. She woke up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare.
5. Toss and turn To move around a lot in bed because you can't sleep. I was tossing and turning all night and couldn't fall asleep.
6. Sleep like a baby To sleep very well and deeply. After hiking all day, he slept like a baby.
7. Catch up on sleep To get extra sleep to make up for not sleeping enough before.
I need to catch up on sleep this weekend because I've been studying late every night.
8. Snore To make a loud noise while breathing in sleep. My dad snores loudly, and it can be hard to sleep.
9. Sleep on it To think about something overnight before making a decision. I'm not sure about the offer; I need to sleep on it and decide tomorrow.
10. Sleep in To stay in bed and sleep longer than usual. On weekends, I like to sleep in and wake up late.
11. Sleep through To not wake up during something (like noise or an event). He can sleep through anything, even thunderstorms.
12. Out like a light To fall asleep very quickly. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out like a light.
13. Pillowcase A cover for a pillow. I need to wash my pillowcase because it's dirty.
14. Mattress The soft part of the bed that you lie on. A comfortable mattress helps you sleep better.
15. Bedpost The upright support at the corner of a bed. He hung his hat on the bedpost before going to sleep.
16. Headboard The upright part at the head of a bed, towards where people put their heads. She leaned against the headboard while reading a book.
17. Nap A short sleep during the day. I took a nap after lunch because I was feeling tired.
18. Insomnia Trouble falling or staying asleep. She has insomnia and often lies awake at night.
19. Alarm clock A clock that makes a noise to wake you up. My alarm clock rings at 6:30 every morning.
20. Comforter A thick, fluffy blanket. I love my new comforter; it's so warm and cozy. It will come in handy during the winter.
21. Sleepwalk To walk around while asleep. His brother sometimes sleepwalks and ends up in the kitchen.

3. Similar - Almost the same but not exactly. The two countries have similar interests in the conflict.
4. Elaborate - To explain something in more detail. The president will elaborate on the plan to help the other country.
5. Let me underline - To say that something is very important. Let me underline that peace is our main goal.
6. Lost in translation - When the meaning of something is not clear because it was not translated well. The message was lost in translation and caused some confusion.
7. No boots on the ground - No soldiers will be sent to fight in a country. The government promised there would be no boots on the ground in the conflict.
8. On the ground operations - Military actions that take place in a certain area. The army is planning on the ground operations to support their allies.
9. Opposition - A group of people or countries that are against something. The opposition did not agree with the government's decision to intervene.
10. Armed drones - Unmanned flying vehicles that have weapons. The military used armed drones to gather information and attack targets.
11. Paramilitary - An unofficial military group that is not part of the official army. The paramilitary forces were called in to help during the conflict.
12. Secular - Not connected to religion. The Turkish government is secular, so it does not follow any specific religion.
13. Theocracy - A type of government where religious leaders control the country, and religious laws are the main laws. In a theocracy, religious leaders have the most power in making decisions for the country.
14. Sunni - The largest group of Muslims who follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and his companions. Most Muslims in the world are Sunni.
15. Shia - A group of Muslims who believe that leadership should have stayed within the family of Prophet Muhammad. Iran has many Shia Muslims who follow different religious practices than Sunni Muslims.

Vocabulary Words
1. Debate - A formal discussion between people with different opinions. There will be a debate between Vice President Harris and Former President Trump next month.
2. Audience - The group of people who watch or listen to something.
The debate will have a large audience watching on TV.
3. Moderate To lead a discussion or debate. A journalist will moderate the debate. They will be the moderator.
4. Opponent A person who is against someone in a competition or debate.
In the debate, each candidate will try to win against their opponent.
5. Presidential Related to the President or the position of President. The presidential debate between Harris and Trump will be watched by millions.
6. Rebuttal A reply to a criticism or argument, showing why it is wrong. During the debate, Vice President Harris gave a strong rebuttal to Trump's claims.
7. Defamation - Saying false things about someone to damage their reputation.
Trump accused ABC News of defamation after they made false statements about him.
8. Frankly - Honestly and directly. Trump said, "Frankly, I think my policies are better for the country."
9. Terrified - Very scared. Some people are terrified about what will happen after the debate.
10. Security blanket - Something that makes someone feel safe and comfortable.
For many voters, hearing their candidate speak is like a security blanket.
11. Discombobulated - Confused and upset. Harris looked discombobulated when Trump interrupted her.
12. Accomplished - Very skilled or successful. Both candidates are accomplished speakers.
13. Smart as a whip - Very intelligent. People say Harris is smart as a whip when it comes to debates.
14. Thrives on - Enjoys or is successful in a particular situation. Trump thrives on the excitement of a live debate.
15. Blue screen of death - A computer error screen showing a major problem.
Trump's computer had the blue screen of death right before the debate.
16. (Brick and) Meltdown A complete failure or collapse. The debate could turn into a meltdown if things get too heated.
17. Change on a dime - To change very quickly and unexpectedly. The mood of the debate can change on a dime if one candidate says something surprising.
18. Anoint - To officially choose someone for a position. The debate will show who might be anointed as the country’s next president.
19. Critical Very important. The debate is critical for both Harris and Trump's campaigns.
20. Tulsi Gabbard A politician who was a candidate in a past presidential election. Tulsi Gabbard once debated Harris in a previous election.
