How AI Search Is Changing Organic Traffic (And What Still Matters)

Have you noticed that search has changed?

Does that mean organic traffic is something of the past?

You can still maximize your written content reach with AI search. Let’s talk about how.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Amplify Your Authority podcast. I’m Marisa Shadrick, your host.

You may have noticed that when you go to Google and run a search, it looks different. There’s now a summary at the top. You don’t see the long list of links to scroll through and click one by one the way you used to.

That change affects how people find information.

And naturally, you might be wondering… how will they find you now?

If you’re a solopreneur like me, you wear many hats. You write the content. You handle the marketing. You manage sales, social media, planning, course creation — everything.

So when something else changes, it can feel overwhelming.

    Take a breath.

This is evolving. It’s new. No one has it perfectly figured out yet. It’s not about hacks. It’s not about gaming the system. It’s about understanding what’s happening and doing the best we can with what we know today.

    Here’s the key shift:

Search is changing how content is delivered to people — not how content is discovered.

    That’s important.

    Let me say it again.

Search is changing how content is delivered, not how it is discovered.

The SEO fundamentals you’ve learned still matter. They still work. What’s happening is that we need to go a little deeper into what AI is looking for when it generates summaries.

Think about the traditional search journey.

    You searched.You saw a list of URLs.You clicked one.You read.You went back.You clicked another.

Eventually, you found what you needed and made a decision.

    Now?

You search. You get an AI summary. You make a decision.

There are fewer clicks. Experts are already reporting that behavior is shifting. When there are fewer clicks, people decide faster.

So visibility today is not just about appearing on page one.

It’s about being referenced in the summary.

    AI still needs reliable resources.

Content still matters.Clarity still matters.Structured thinking still matters.

This shift is a return to responsible authorship.

Search will keep evolving. What won’t change is the need for thoughtful, well-crafted content that helps someone take the next step.

When I first began researching this, I heard every acronym imaginable: SEO, AEO, GEO, schema, markup, signals. It was overwhelming.

    Here’s the relief.

You do not need to master all the technical language.

If you’ve been practicing good writing habits, you’re fine.

Schema, in simple terms, is labeling your content so systems understand what it’s about. Who wrote it. Whether it’s current. What type of content it is.

Tools like Yoast for WordPress handle much of this on the backend. You don’t need to code. You don’t need to become a developer. If you want reassurance, you can use Google’s Rich Results Test to check whether your structured data is recognized.

When you write clearly, you’re leaving breadcrumbs.

AI looks for clarity signals. It evaluates expertise, authority, trustworthiness, and content type.

It’s similar to asking a voice assistant to summarize who someone is. You get a clean, concise overview without clicking multiple links. That information comes from structured, credible sources.

The fundamentals of SEO have not disappeared.

Maintain one main topic per piece.Use relevant keywords thoughtfully.Understand your audience’s awareness level.Use proper headings.Include internal and external links.Add helpful images.Cite claims when appropriate.

    All of that still matters.

Now let’s talk about writing craft.

This is where it gets encouraging.

When people worried AI would lead to lazy writing, what’s actually happening is the opposite. AI search is rewarding strong fundamentals.

Don’t simply ask AI to write an article for you.

    You are the author.

Open with the answer near the top. Make the premise clear.

Write for skimming first, depth second. Respect attention spans. Use white space. Avoid blocks of text.

Edit ruthlessly. Strengthen transitions. Remove jargon. Clarify weak spots.

AI can help you refine your work. It can assist with editing. But the thinking must come from you.

Good structure isn’t about pleasing algorithms. It’s about making your thinking understandable.

One simple way to start? Speak your ideas out loud. Use your phone. Talk through the problem you see in your audience. Share your perspective. Then refine it. Add your frameworks. Add your insight. Add your experience.

    That’s where authority lives.

Years ago, when I wrote for magazines, I studied the publication from cover to cover. I examined tone, perspective, length, even the ads. I wanted to understand the audience deeply.

Today we have AI to assist with research, but the responsibility to think clearly still belongs to us.

Here are a few practical reminders.

Discoverability is not just about being found. It’s about being worth citing.

    Go a little deeper.

Write compelling subheads so readers immediately understand what the article covers.

Avoid cognitive overload. Write in simple English. Vary sentence length. Use short lines. Even one-word sentences.

We are returning to better writing.

    So relax.

    Don’t panic.

    And remember:

Don’t chase every single change.Go deeper, not faster.Keep serving real questions from real people.Make small, steady improvements.Stay focused and repurpose thoughtfully from different angles.

You are not working harder. You’re working deeper.

    And that depth builds credibility.

If this episode helped you, I would appreciate a rating and review.

If you’re watching on YouTube — yes, I’m back — I’d love for you to subscribe and leave a comment.

Thank you for listening. I’ll talk to you soon.

Title: What I Wish I Knew When Starting an Online Business

    Host: Marisa Shadrick

Introduction: If I Were Starting an Online Business Today

Hey there, Marisa here. If you’re starting an online business—or you’ve recently started and feel overwhelmed—this episode is for you. I want to share what I would focus on today if I were starting from scratch, based on what I’ve learned over the years. This isn’t about trends or tactics. It’s about building with clarity instead of confusion.

Strategy vs. Tactics: The Foundation That Changes Everything

When I talk with new business owners, I often see people jumping straight into tactics. Posting here. Creating content there. Trying one platform after another. But without a strategy, tactics lead to burnout.

Strategy is your long-term direction. Tactics are the tools that support it. If a tool stopped working tomorrow and your business fell apart, it wasn’t a strategy—it was a tactic you relied on too heavily.

Being Busy Doesn’t Mean You’re Making Progress

One of the biggest lessons I learned is that activity doesn’t equal productivity. You can stay busy week after week and still not move forward. Progress comes from aligning your actions with your strategy, not just checking things off a to-do list.

Start With One Clear, Viable Offer

When you’re starting an online business, it’s tempting to build everything at once—courses, memberships, coaching, workshops. But one offer is enough. In fact, one offer is better.

Validation matters. Start with what your audience needs, not just what you want to teach. Listen to recurring questions. Do competitor research. Too many ideas create decision fatigue, unclear messaging, and burnout. Iteration always beats reinvention.

Doubt Will Show Up—and That’s Normal

Doubt is part of the journey. It whispers things like, What if I fail? Is anyone listening? Am I even qualified to do this?

Here’s what I’ve learned: doubt is a visitor, not a roommate. Fear only stays if you give it permission. You’ve come too far to let temporary doubt steal something that matters to you.

Not All Advice Is Meant for You

There’s no shortage of advice online, and much of it sounds smart. But strategy overload and framework hopping will leave you frustrated.

Discernment is a business skill. Take what aligns with your values, your audience, and your capacity—and leave the rest. You’re a solo business owner, not a company with a full team behind the scenes.

    Visibility Without Clarity Creates Noise

More content without a plan doesn’t lead to growth—it creates noise. Especially now, with AI making it easy to produce content quickly.

Before you post, ask yourself: What am I selling? Who is this for? Where should I show up? Not every platform is right for every business. Test intentionally, then evaluate what’s actually working.

A Strategic Lesson on Podcasting and YouTube

If I were starting my podcast today, I would approach it differently. YouTube is a search engine. Podcast platforms are distribution channels. Starting with video first and repurposing to audio would have given me more long-term visibility.

This is what strategy looks like—choosing the right foundation before choosing the tactic.

Build an Email List Earlier Than You Think

Your email list is one of your greatest assets. It builds trust, familiarity, and connection over time. When people know your voice, your perspective, and your process, selling becomes easier.

Everything should point back to your offer and your email list—your calls to action, your content, and your funnels.

    Chasing Algorithms Will Exhaust You

Algorithms change. Trends fade. When everyone jumps on what’s working right now, it quickly loses its power.

Quality and relevance matter more than volume. Don’t chase shortcuts. Build something sustainable instead.

Build a Business That Fits Your Season of Life

Your business should support your life—not replace one demanding job with another. Define success for where you are now and where you want to be in a few years.

Your values, goals, and constraints should guide your decisions and protect your time, energy, and focus.

The Lessons Will Become Your Mentors

There is a learning curve, and it’s normal. You don’t need perfection—you need simplicity. One offer. One strategy. Iteration over reinvention.

Selling is part of serving. The sooner you start conversations, the sooner you learn. Every experience—success or failure—becomes a mentor that helps you refine what you’re building.

    Final Thoughts: Start With Strategy

If I were starting an online business today, I would focus on strategy first, then choose tactics that support it. Staying busy won’t get you where you want to go—but clarity will.

If this episode helped you, you’re welcome to reach out through my website and schedule a conversation. And if you’d like to support the show, I’d truly appreciate a five-star rating and review.

Introduction: Are You Saying Yes to No Team, No Time, No Traction?

Hey there, Marisa here. If you can say yes to no team, no time, no traction, then you’ll want to listen to this week’s podcast episode. I’m sharing some predictions for 2026 and how you can change your business outlook using AI.

     The Digital Shift Is Here

What a year it’s been! AI is showing up in every corner of business—from big companies to the tools we use daily. Solo business owners are either already transitioning or are on the edge of this shift. The numbers don’t lie: over 75% of small to mid-sized businesses have invested in AI, and nearly 80% see it as a game changer.

My prediction? By 2026, using AI will be as normal as using the internet or your smartphone.

     AI Isn’t Going Away—So Let’s Coexist

If you’re a solo business owner with no team and no traction, now’s the time to think about how to work with AI. I’m not into scare tactics, but here’s the truth: if you’re not using AI strategically by 2026, it’s going to show. Others will, and you’ll fall behind.

But here’s the catch—you can’t just prompt a tool and post the results. You need to be part of the process. Coexistence means staying involved while letting AI assist you.

     First Steps: Solve Your Bottlenecks

Where are you stuck? That’s where AI can help first. Maybe you need a thinking partner. Maybe you need help solving a business challenge like growing your email list. Your first custom AI assistant should serve your biggest need.

     Learn the Skill of Prompting

If you learn how to communicate with AI, that skill becomes transferable across tools—ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude—they all work better when you know how to guide them. I always suggest starting with ChatGPT, even for personal tasks like planning a Thanksgiving menu. Then transfer those skills to business.

ChatGPT can help you write blogs, emails, client content, and even course material—once you’ve trained it on your voice and your business.

The Next Wave: Creativity, Connection, and Strategy

The next generation of successful solo business owners will outsource busywork to AI and focus on creativity, connection, and strategy. AI gives you margin, and margin gives you space to think and reimagine what’s possible.

Prediction #2: Content Boom (But Simplicity Wins)

Get ready for more newsletters, blogs, and yes—books. AI has made book publishing more accessible, and the industry is thriving. But more content also means more noise. The solution? Be clear. Be simple. Be human.

Write like you’re speaking to someone across the kitchen table. That’s how you stand out.

It’s Not About Quantity—It’s About Heart and Originality

In 2026, the differentiator won’t be how much content you publish. It will be how much you is in your content. Your brand, values, and stories matter more than ever.

Three Essential Skills for Solopreneurs in 2026

Let’s shift gears. Here are three essential leadership skills I believe solopreneurs must nurture moving forward:

    1. Clear Communication

AI mirrors what you provide. Communicate your brand, your audience, and your goals clearly to get good results. The clearer the direction, the stronger the output.

    2. Ongoing Delegation

You’ve done everything yourself—but that mindset has to shift. It’s time to ask, “Should AI be doing this?” One offer. One lead magnet. One audience. One problem. One transformation. Keep it simple so you can refine and scale.

Delegation isn’t about hiring a VA anymore. It’s about using AI to take things off your plate and free up energy and focus.

    3. Unlimited Imagination

This is your edge. AI gives you margin, and margin gives you room to imagine. Ask “what if?” and let curiosity lead the way. What once felt impossible is now within reach.

     AI Supports—It Doesn’t Replace You

You still need to lead your business. AI helps execute. Protect your voice. Protect your brand. Share your stories. Your personality is what makes your business unique—and that’s what people connect with.

People buy from you. Not just your product, not your features. You.

Final Thoughts: Keep It Simple and Strategic

Stick to one offer, one problem, one solution, and do it well. Use AI to improve by 5% or 10% and build from there. Don’t get overwhelmed by tools and tactics.

You started your business for freedom and purpose—not burnout. Use AI to stay aligned with your mission and remove the bottlenecks that are holding you back.

It doesn’t ignore hardship. It helps us face what’s hard with new strength. When numbers dip, launches flop, or emails go unanswered, gratitude doesn’t fix the outcome—but it reframes the meaning. It whispers, “This too is growth.”

    Everyday Tasks Become Purposeful

Gratitude turns unglamorous tasks into commitment—uploading files, answering emails, formatting newsletters. These acts serve someone we may never meet, but who still matters. When the calendar is packed but our hearts feel empty, gratitude resets us. It reminds us: we don’t need to earn our worth through effort. We are already enough. We don’t have to do this work—we get to.

    Why Connection > Conversion

Gratitude transforms how we serve. It softens ego, amplifies empathy. It shifts our mindset: from conversion to connection, from scaling to serving, from reaching everyone to reaching one person with care. Even when pivots feel unrecognized, algorithms change, or AI feels overwhelming, gratitude reminds us—change isn’t the enemy. It’s an invitation.

    Let Gratitude Shape Your Future

Every obstacle becomes a lesson. Every detour a doorway. And even now, as AI changes how we work and create, we can be thankful—not just for the tools, but for the clarity and creative energy they return to us.Gratitude says we don’t have to fear the future. We can meet it with wonder. If your dream still feels far away, gratitude says thank you—for the vision, the longing, and the time to grow into it. You’re not stuck. You’re in a growth season.

    When the Work Feels Lonely

When tech breaks or when loneliness creeps in—remember: you’re not alone. God is with you. And when clients trust you, when someone reaches out for guidance—gratitude says thank you. For the opportunity. For the unseen impact. For the chance to serve.

    Your Journey Is Enough

Gratitude shifts our mindset from “How do I get more?” to “How can I give more?” And when you give more, people notice. They feel valued. They come closer. When you look back on the year, don’t call it a success or a failure—call it your journey. You showed up. You kept going. You kept learning. You stretched yourself. You continued to serve. Let gratitude be your strategy—your true strength that no one can take away from you.

Closing Words for the Season Ahead

I hope you see the beauty in what you’re building, even if it’s still unfinished. It matters. I hope you celebrate the quiet victories, even when no one claps. And I hope you greet the coming year not with pressure, but with possibilities. You’re doing important work. Keep going. Keep growing. And do it all with gratitude.May you and your family have a wonderful holiday season. Until next time, take care.

Build an AI That Thinks Like You Using ChatGPT Best Practices

Running a business as a solo owner means every task, every deadline, every piece of content falls on your shoulders.

Some weeks, the to-do list feels like a second job. And when you finally find a tool that can shave off 30 minutes here and there, it adds up.

That’s where I was a few months ago, deep in the writing process for my book, trying to keep up with client work, content, admin, all of it. (We wear many hats.)

I decided to give ChatGPT a shot to help edit some of the writing. I uploaded my rough draft with stories and insights, but the revision didn’t sound like me. The stories were mine. The insights were mine. But the voice? Filtered. Generic.

That’s when I realized, if AI is going to help us, it needs to know me. It needs more than a great prompt. It needs our decision-making process, our values, our tone, even our quirks.

In This Episode, I’ll Share My Process for Building A Helpful AI Assistant

If you’ve felt buried in work or disappointed by AI, I’ll show you a better way to use AI, whether it’s ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini,  that is not only strategic but a huge timesaver.

Whether you’re just starting or searching for more meaningful output, this episode will give you actionable steps to make AI work more effectively.

What You’ll Discover in This Episode
    • Why adopting an AI strategy matters more than just acquiring prompt templates.
    • The most common mistakes business owners make when using ChatGPT and how to avoid them
    • The foundational documents you need to “teach” AI about your unique business and brand
    • How to shift your mindset from overwhelmed admin to empowered strategist
    • Simple steps to build specialized AI assistants for ghostwriting, marketing, and more.
     Key Takeaways
    • You only need to create your foundational business documents once, and you’ll reuse them to train your custom AI assistants.
    • The quality of your prompts depends on how much unique, specific information you provide to ChatGPT; otherwise, it fills in gaps with generic content.
    • Your heart, worldview, and perspectives are what truly set your business apart, and AI can help you articulate them with greater clarity.
     Quotes to Remember

“It’s not about doing more; it’s about doing the right things better.”

“When you feed AI information about you, your business, and your brand, it becomes very unique to you, and not to somebody else’s business.”

“You are the one that’s going to make the difference as far as whether or not they choose to buy from you, that’s why your brand, your voice, is so important.”

Why Solo Business Owners Hesitate with AI

Many solo business owners have waited, followed the AI buzz from the sidelines. And now, three years later, after ChatGPT was released, they’re starting to think about joining in or at least giving it a serious look. Yet with so many options and little training, they often try tools like ChatGPT only to be disappointed.

In this episode, we’re going to break down common mistakes, and I’ll show you how to get the best results using ChatGPT. You’ll walk away inspired and ready to build better prompts—and maybe even your first AI assistant—so you can start using AI for meaningful, high-leverage work.

    Why You Need AI Now

Hello and welcome to the Amplify Your Authority Podcast. I’m Marisa Shadrick, AI marketing strategist and certified copywriter, and I’m excited to bring you this mini training. I’m going to give you insights into how ChatGPT works, why it matters for solo business owners, and best practices for using it effectively.

Let’s start with why you even need AI. Many people hesitate. It can feel overwhelming and unfamiliar. But three years in, it’s here to stay. Companies are using it everywhere. It’s not going away—and solo business owners can’t afford to ignore it.

Wearing Too Many Hats: The Reality of Solo Business

In a corporate setting, different roles are handled by different people—sales, content, copywriting, and project management. But solo business owners? We do it all.

That means prompts to AI often feel rushed or surface-level because we’re stretched thin. It’s not carelessness—it’s overload.

AI matters not to do more, but to do what you’re already doing better. Imagine having an AI assistant that acts like a copy chief—overseeing all content to keep your voice and messaging consistent.

The first mindset shift we need: stop seeing yourself as just an admin and start thinking like a strategist.

Content Metrics: What They Really Mean

Let’s talk about content strategy. There are four stages: reach, impressions, engagement, and conversion.

Many post content hoping to grow their list, but what does engagement really mean if it doesn’t lead to conversion?

Reach is the number of people who see your content. Impressions are the number of times your content is shown. Engagement is how people interact with it. And conversion is when people take real action—buy, sign up, or register.

AI can help with content at all stages—but only if you start with strategy first and work backward.

    Why Prompts Fail Without Context

AI is literal—like Amelia Bedelia. If your prompt isn’t clear or complete, it guesses. It pulls from the internet, not from you.

That’s why you need to feed it the right information: your voice, values, worldview, and more. You can’t expect strong output from weak input.

When I prompt AI, I share the context—what came before, what the goal is, and what happens next. When AI understands the why, it performs much better.

Feeding AI with Strategy: Business Docs Matter

AI is great at pattern recognition. So give it your patterns.

    Start with these documents:

Business Profile (your value prop, offers, testimonials, story)

Client Profile (your audience’s pain points, surveys)

Product Profile (what you offer and why it matters)

Voice, Tone, and Style Guide (based on real content or transcripts)

Once you create these, you can reuse them again and again. You’ll save time and train your AI to think like you.

The Heart Profile: Making AI Sound Like You

While working on my book, I noticed something: AI could help, but my content was starting to sound flat. It lost my voice.

That’s when I created the Heart Profile—a deep dive into your values, worldview, personal beliefs, and what makes your message truly human.

AI can’t find that on the internet. But if you give it your humanity, it’ll reflect it back.

Once you have your foundational documents, you can create custom GPTs for different business needs—a ghostwriter, a content strategist, a copy chief—whatever role you want to offload.

    Encouragement to Get Started

If ChatGPT isn’t your tool of choice, these documents work with Gemini, Claude, and others.

To help you get started, I’ve created a free resource: a Heart Profile questionnaire that helps you extract what makes your brand you.

    Visit marisashadrick.com/heartto download it.

Record your answers in Google Docs using voice typing. Yes, it’s a detailed process—but it’s one you only do once. And the clarity it brings? Game-changing.

    Final Thoughts

If you’ve been on the AI sidelines, this is your time to step in with clarity and confidence. At the end of the day, you are the reason people buy. Not your offer. Not the algorithm. You.

Your brand and voice matter. AI can help you show up more often, more clearly, and with greater impact.

It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing the right things better.

So start small. Try a new prompt. Build your first AI assistant. Lead with strategy and humanity, and let AI do the heavy lifting.

The pressure to produce content keeps them overwhelmed. While AI promises to help, the truth is, it often adds more generic noise without context.

Title: Stand Out Online with a Human-First AI Strategy

    Host: Marisa Shadrick

Intro and why AI content is starting to blur

If your content sounds like everyone else, maybe it’s because the AI model you’re using has been trained by everyone else’s AI output. It’s time to fix that. Stay tuned and let’s explore human-first AI strategies here in the Amplify Your Authority Podcast.

Got the solo business blues? Wearing too many hats? Stay tuned for an episode that understands where you’re at. From burnout to breakthrough, we’ll rewrite your story with AI and strategy. Let’s amplify your authority.

    Welcome and setting the tone

Hello, and welcome to the Amplify Your Authority Podcast. I’m Marisa Shadrick, your host, and I’m honored you’re listening today. I value your time and promise to bring you value in this short episode.

As an AI brand strategist and copywriter, I care deeply about words. Lately, I’ve noticed the language in emails and landing pages is starting to blur together. It’s polished and clear, but it’s all starting to sound the same.

    The rise of AI-generated content

Here’s a surprising stat from multiple studies: As of November 2025, over 50% of new articles published online are AI-generated. Back in 2022, before ChatGPT, it was just 5–10%. By 2026, it’s predicted to hit 90%.

If people keep publishing AI-generated content without strong leadership, AI will keep learning from itself—not from you. Some of our best words—like “amplify”—are now overused by AI.

    Why generic content doesn’t connect

The pressure to produce content is leading to generic messaging. It’s okay to use AI—but only if you lead it. You must train it to reflect your human DNA.

As solo business owners, we can’t afford to settle for generic. We need AI to think with us, not for us.

The many roles solo business owners juggle

Most solo business owners are doing the job of an entire team:

    • Product and sales strategist

    • SEO specialist

    • Copy chief

    • Content director

    • Social media manager and designer

This leads to overload and confusion, inconsistent marketing, and missed opportunities.

    Stop creating reactive content

Often, we end up creating reactive content instead of strategic content. Let’s stop chasing vanity metrics and start producing content with a clear purpose.

How AI can lighten your load

AI can do the heavy lifting, but it needs leadership. I use AI every day to write content, create podcast jingles, and generate images. But everything originates with me. I lead the AI.

    Train AI like Amelia Bedelia

Think of AI like Amelia Bedelia—the children’s book character who takes instructions literally. If you say, “dust the furniture,” she’ll add dust to it. That’s how AI behaves. If you’re not specific, it’ll get it wrong.

Edit and optimize to save time

Review your AI output. Grade it. Edit it. You’re the final say. Over time, this process will save you hours each week.

    Create an AI support system

Start small. Build your AI team one support role at a time. Whether it’s an AI ghostwriter or a social content assistant, train it well.

Final encouragement and live training invitation

If you want guidance, I’m hosting a free training on November 19th. Register at marisashadrick.com/training. Live attendees will get bonus AI prompt templates.

Final Thoughts: Your voice is your superpower. You don’t have to create more to matter more. You just need clarity, purpose, and the right support. AI can be your ally—but it’s your humanity that leads. Keep showing up with intention, and trust that your message has a place in the noise. The right people are listening.

Title: How Smart Research Fuels Sticky Content

    Host: Marisa Shadrick

     Welcome and Episode Overview

Marisa Shadrick :Too many entrepreneurs pour hours into content creation with little to show for it. Yes, I mean hours. Most of their week is either writing, recording, or taping videos, and they’re not seeing any results. That can lead to discouragement, self-doubt, and a whole boatload of negative junk. No more, my friend. In this episode, we’re going to talk about content creation, fix some misconceptions, and get you back on track. So stay tuned for episode 138: Got the solo business blues? Wearing too many hats? This episode understands where you’re at.

    From Burnout to Breakthrough

Marisa Shadrick :From burnout to breakthrough. We’ll rewrite your story with AI and strategy. Let’s amplify your authority. Hello, my friends, and welcome to the Amplify Your Authority Podcast. I’m your host, Marisa Shadrick, and I am so honored that you are listening. Thank you so much. It means the world to me, and I’m going to bring you a lot of value in a short amount of time.

    Why Content Strategy Matters

Marisa Shadrick :We’re talking about content creation. A lot of entrepreneurs—myself included—crank out content on the fly. Maybe between meetings or because we see something on the calendar and realize we have to get a post out. Sometimes we do it quickly —maybe with AI, maybe not —and there’s no real strategy. Then we’re disappointed when it doesn’t perform.

If we just slow down and spend a little time thinking about why we’re creating content, who it’s for, and what we expect from it, we’ll get better results. Think of each piece of content as a little employee. What job do you want it to do?

    Making Content Magnetic and Sticky

Marisa Shadrick :You want your message to be magnetic and sticky. I know, sticky sounds weird, but it works. You want it to resonate with your audience so they remember. It might take five, six, or even seven times for someone to finally say, “Yes, I want to sign up for this. I want to hear more.”

    Your Audience Is Evolving

Marisa Shadrick :Here’s the tricky part: our audience is evolving. Just like we grow and learn, so does our audience. What was a problem for them a year ago might not be an issue anymore—they’ve got a new one. That’s why we need to keep our finger on the pulse. Stay close to their needs and create content that’s relevant.

    Simple Research Methods: Quizzes

Marisa Shadrick :Research doesn’t have to be hard. One way is through quizzes. Yes, they take a little work upfront. Inside my private community, I have a custom GPT and tutorials that help you build quizzes. You could join for one month, go through the training, and cancel if you want—it’s just $37. (Of course, I’d love you to stay and experience AI Lab for Solopreneurs.) Quizzes are great because people love a self-discovery process. Plus, you grow your email list and get your intel on your audience.

    Surveys Without the Overwhelm

Marisa Shadrick :Surveys are another simple tool. They don’t have to be boring or overwhelming. I often use one-question surveys at the end of coaching sessions. You can keep them anonymous and make them multiple choice. Ask clear questions like, “When it comes to , what is your biggest struggle?” or “If you could wave a magic wand, what would the ideal outcome be?”

    Collecting Insights from Live Events

Marisa Shadrick :Another strategy? Attend webinars or workshops that your audience also attends. Export the Zoom chat to see what questions people are asking. That’s valuable insight. I’ve used this strategy for years. You can also check Facebook groups if that’s your style—though I personally don’t hang out on Facebook much.

Free SEO Tools to Stay Relevant

Marisa Shadrick :Don’t ignore SEO—it’s just a way to see what people are searching for. There are great free tools like Google Ads Keyword Planner, WordStream, and Answer Socrates. These tools help you find high search volume, but low-competition keywords, so you can create relevant content.

    Aligning Your Offers and Messaging

Marisa Shadrick :When you collect quiz responses, survey results, and keyword data, you can start to spot patterns. You’ll understand what your audience wants now—not last year or next year, but today. Use that data to shape your products, content, and promotions.

As the saying goes, give them what they want, then bake in what they need.

    Final Thoughts and Next Episode

Marisa Shadrick :Everything you create—your opt-in page, website, sales page, podcast, articles, and social media—should reflect what your audience needs today. Stay curious. Keep asking questions. And keep refining.

If you enjoyed this episode, I’d love it if you’d leave a rating and review. And don’t forget to take the quiz at marisashadrick.com/quiz. Until next time, take care. Bye-bye.

Title: Find Your Brand’s Sweet Spot & Build a Magnetic Business

    Host: Marisa Shadrick

The #1 Struggle for Online Entrepreneurs

There’s one struggle most online entrepreneurs face: getting traffic. In this episode, we’re going to walk through how to find your sweet spot—that intersection between what you’re good at and what the market truly needs (not just what you think it needs).

If you’re a beginner—or simply want to refresh your foundation—this episode will help you clarify your brand and message to attract the right audience.

    Branding Isn’t Just a Logo

Branding isn’t about logos or color palettes. Branding is how people experience you.

It’s how they feel when they see your name, read your posts, or hear your voice. When you’re starting from scratch, your brand isn’t built by chance. It’s built with clarity—and that clarity becomes your message, your story, and your magnet for the right people.

Your Sweet Spot Starts with a Story

What made you start an online business? Think about your “inciting incident”—a turning point that led to this decision. This moment becomes the foundation of your brand story.

Your sweet spot is more than your skills. It’s where your purpose, talents, and your audience’s needs intersect.

5 Purpose Buckets That Drive Online Entrepreneurs

People start businesses for different reasons. Here are five common drivers:

    • Creative-driven work (e.g., artists, designers, musicians)
    • Belief-driven work (e.g., health advocates, mission-based coaches)
    • Vision-driven work (e.g., non-profits, changemakers)
    • Skills-driven work (e.g., service providers like copywriters, designers)
    • Interest-driven work (e.g., hobbies turned business like Pokémon cards)

What drives you? Identifying this can clarify your messaging.

    7 Questions to Validate Demand

Once your story and purpose are clear, ask:

    1. Is there evidence of past success for this idea?
    2. Is this a trend or something sustainable?
    3. Are prospects aware and actively searching for this?
    4. Will you serve B2B or B2C?
    5. Do they have the time and money to invest?
    6. Can you reach this market effectively?
    7. Will your offer reduce a struggle or worry they face?

    The Value of Feeling Understood

“You don’t want the prospect to understand what you’re offering. You want the prospect to feel understood.”

This one shift changes everything. That’s the power of empathy in messaging.

Your value solution statement should clearly express:

    • Who you are
    • Who you help
    • What you help them do
    • What result they get

Example: “I’m Marisa Shadrick, an AI marketing strategist and certified copywriter. I help solo entrepreneurs create compelling content so they can attract clients with ease.”

    6 Product Design Categories

Before building content, consider how you’ll deliver your solution. Here are six essential product elements:

    1. Product Model – One-on-one, small group, digital course, or hybrid
    2. Delivery Format – Live, video, audio, PDF
    3. Involvement Level – Done-for-you (DFY), Done-with-you (DWY), or Do-it-yourself (DIY)
    4. Speed & Convenience – How fast and how often?
    5. Support Level – Text, chat, email, Zoom, etc.
    6. End Result – What transformation will your client achieve?

Designing your offer with these in mind helps ensure it aligns with both your capacity and your audience’s needs.

    Podcast Transcript

Marisa Shadrick :Previously, in episode 135, we used an Indiana Jones style adventure to illustrate a customer journey. Our followers adventured through fog and fear to reach the landmark stone and arrive at their destination. But arrival was never the end. It was only the beginning. Stay tuned for this special sequel. From conversion to transformation. Got the solo business blues wearing too many hats? Stay tuned for an episode that understands where you’re at. From burnout to breakthrough.

Marisa Shadrick :We’ll rewrite your story with AI and strategy. Let’s amplify your authority welcome to the Amplify your Authority podcast. I’m your host, Marisa Shadrick, and I’m truly honored that you’re listening to this podcast. This week’s episode builds on episode 135, where we explored the customer journey. Both can be enjoyed individually, but together they tell a more comprehensive marketing story, one that takes you from first connection to lifelong fans. In this episode, we’ll explore what happens after someone buys from you. How do you help them adapt, succeed, and stay long enough to become your biggest advocates? We’re going to focus primarily on group coaching programs and memberships. In this Indiana Jones style episode, I’ll explain how you guide your new clients toward real transformation by keeping the lantern lit as they thrive with their new skill sets.

Marisa Shadrick :Opening scene. You’ve led your heroes through the fog and across the bridge. The last time we met, they reached the landmark stone, the glowing marker that said you’ve arrived. But many forgot that arrival isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a new one. Beyond the landmark gate lies a new kingdom. It’s vibrant, alive and full of possibility. The air smells different.

Marisa Shadrick :The streets hum with energy. But as your heroes step into this new land, they quickly realize it’s not as simple as they imagined. There’s a new language to learn, new habits to develop, new decisions to make, and new challenges to face. And as their guide, your role hasn’t ended either. It’s just the beginning. Your role as the guide is to prepare and strengthen them with strategic pillars, foundations that hold them up when the journey tests their resilience. Each pillar represents a challenge for the hero and a responsibility for the guide. Together, they create a framework for success inside the kingdom.

Marisa Shadrick :Here’s an Overview of the five 1. The new language helping them understand the world they’ve entered. 2. The rules of the realm, showing them the traditions that keep the kingdom thriving. 3. Making informed decisions. Guiding them to choose the right path forward. Finding allies.

Marisa Shadrick :Connecting them with others who are sharing a similar purpose. Number five. Weathering the Storms preparing them for inevitable challenges ahead. Now let’s explore each one separately. The New language the marketplace is alive with chatter. Merchants call out strange words, acronyms, abbreviations and insider slang. The newcomers exchange puzzled looks. It’s exciting but confusing.

Marisa Shadrick :That’s what happens when someone joins a group coaching program or a membership. They enter a new world full of tools, terms, shortcuts, DMs, KPIs, funnels, automations and AI prompts. And it could be like a foreign tongue. Checkpoint for the Guide Translate, simplify and teach the dialect of your world. Create quick wins that builds confidence. A simple glossary, a walkthrough, a cheat sheet can turn confusion into competence. When your members feel fluent, they feel capable. The Rules of the Realm A steward steps forward, handing the heroes a parchment of instructions.

Marisa Shadrick :It lists the traditions of the realm, when to gather, how to trade, key features of the realm, where to find things, and how to contribute. It helps them navigate in this new world inside a membership or group coaching program. These aren’t laws. These are the guidelines or instructions that keep the community thriving. Meeting times Feedback channels, progress. Checkpoints. Without them, confusion reigns. Checkpoint for the Guide Clarity breeds confidence.

Marisa Shadrick :Repetition builds trust. Help members understand how the world works, where to find things, when to show up, and how to succeed. When the rules are clear, people engage. Three Making Informed decisions A hero stands at a crossroads. A path stretches toward the mountains, another toward the forest, and another to the sea. Each glows with promise. But which one leads to the life they truly want? That’s how new members feel when they start building momentum. There are so many options, so many decisions to be made.

Marisa Shadrick :Build a course. Grow community. Automate systems. Pick a social media platform. Hire help. Every decision feels important, and paralysis can creep in. Checkpoint for the Guide Offer frameworks, a success path, and even a mini course to guide your heroes toward wise choices. Encourage focus over frenzy.

Marisa Shadrick :Help them sequence their steps. Where to start, what to delay, what to delegate. Making informed decisions turns wandering into progress. Number four Finding allies. As the hero travels, they meet others on a similar quest. Builders, storytellers, healers. Around the campfire. They share stories, ideas, and laughter.

Marisa Shadrick :Suddenly, the journey feels lighter. That is the power of community. In a group coaching program or a membership. Isolation fades when people find allies, others who understand their fears, challenges, and share their dreams. Together they grow faster, braver, stronger. Checkpoint for the Guide Foster genuine connections. Create spaces for collaboration, accountability, and encouragement. Collaboration isn’t just a nice to have.

Marisa Shadrick :It’s a catalyst for transformation. We are better together, better when we can collaborate with people walking a similar path who understand the emotions, the doubts, and can celebrate the victories with you. Number five Weathering the Storms Dark clouds gather, a storm rolls in. Rain floods the paths, winds scatter maps and strange beasts stir in the woods. Some heroes panic, others remember their training and press on. In a world of business, storms come too. Tech fails, launch flops, dips in motivation, comparison burnout. These moments test the hero’s resolve.

Marisa Shadrick :Checkpoint for the guide Teach resilience. Remind them that storms don’t signal failure. They forge strength, provide tools for recovery and renewal. Share your own stories of endurance. Guides who show vulnerability build trust, build and endurance CLOSING SCENE the sun sets over the kingdom as drums echo through the courtyards. Lanterns glow from every window and the heroes gather in the great hall for a celebration. Music swells, laughter fills the air, and banners wave in the torchlight. They’ve overcome trials, faced uncertainty, and grown into something greater than they imagined.

Marisa Shadrick :The kingdom thrives because you’ve prepared them for this moment. The real reward isn’t success or the treasures they found, it’s the transformation they’ve experienced. Your heroes stand tall. Lanterns now in their own hands, they are no longer travelers following your path. They are heroes charting their own. When someone joins your group coaching program or membership, the sale isn’t the finale. It’s the prologue to a new chapter of growth. Your ongoing support turns knowledge into mastery and clients into lifelong fans.

Marisa Shadrick :This is the complete story from customer journey to customer transformation. Keep building the pillars and keep the lantern lit. This is how we make a difference online. If you’ve enjoyed this very different podcast episode, I’d love to love it if you’d leave a rating and review. And I hope you’ve enjoyed this story. In episode 135 and 136, where we talk about the customer journey and also what happens when they become clients and how we create advocates. So until next time, take care.

  • Episode #135 Make Your Funnel Feel Like A Journey And Not A Pitch
How to Make Your Funnel Feel Like a Journey and Not A Pitch!

You’ve poured hours into your content. You’ve followed all the tips. But the clicks aren’t coming, the sign-ups are slow, and you’re wondering what you’re missing. Sound familiar?

If your audience isn’t engaging, it’s not always the algorithm or even your offer.

In this episode of Amplify Your Authority, I take a light-hearted, Indiana Jones-style approach to a topic that usually feels dry and stressful: your marketing funnel.

We’ll head into the metaphorical jungle together to find the four “stones” every potential client needs to cross for a successful journey.

This episode is part story, part strategy, and 100% practical.

Here’s What You’ll Discover in This Episode
    • A story-based breakdown of the four essential parts of a funnel
    • The four “magical stones” every audience must experience to complete their journey: invitation, threshold, risky leap, and reassurance.
    • The importance of visibility (“the lantern stone”) and how to build visibility without chasing viral trends
    • Simple ways AI can help you troubleshoot your funnel and make each step more effective

    Funnel Key Takeaways
    • Funnels are more than a sales sequence; it’s a journey that guides real people through uncertainty with empathy and intention.
    • Every step in your funnel needs visibility, clarity, safety, and reassurance to keep your audience moving confidently forward.
    • Building relationships and serving both your audience and your peers is essential to amplifying your visibility and authority.
    • Why it matters:
      • Without a Lantern Stone? No visibility.
      • No Gate Stone? They don’t step in.
      • Skip the Bridge? They never buy.
      • Forget the Landmark? They ghost you. When retention drops and customer lifetime value decreases, you miss out on supplemental sales, referrals, and testimonials.

    Episode Quotes to Remember

    1. “You funnel is not just leading a potential customer, you’re leading people.”2. “Funnels aren’t just a sequence. They are a journey within a story.”3. When it comes to sales, “What feels routine to you may be a lifeline to others.”

Marisa Shadrick :Weak engagement isn’t always about content or algorithm problems. It’s often because the path you’ve built for your audience is broken or incomplete. In this Indiana style episode, we’ll review funnels and how to build trust, guide action, and help people say yes with confidence every step of the way. Stay tuned. Got the solo business blues wearing too many hats. Stay tuned for an episode that understands where you’re at, from burnout to breakthrough. We’ll rewrite your story with AI and strategy. Let’s amplify your authority.

Marisa Shadrick :Hello everyone, and welcome to the Amplify your authority podcast. I’m your host, Marisa Shadrick, and I am truly honored that you are listening. And I’m going to work hard to make every second count in this episode. So we’re going to take something that is pretty much a dry topic, funnels, and give it a little twist with a story. So your marketing funnel only works if you have a map with a clear path. In this story, your adventurers are going through unknown terrain and trying to find four magical stones, each one critical to completing their journey safely. Without all four, your adventurers will hesitate, detour, or turn back. Now, of course, we’re not actually trekking through the jungle or collecting artifacts.

Marisa Shadrick :This is a metaphor in your business. Those stones are the steps your audience needs to find you, trust you, and ultimately say yes. But here’s the problem. If even one of those steps or stones is missing or unclear, people don’t keep going. They stop. So today, I’m going to show you how to become the kind of guide your audience wants to follow. Someone who maps out the path and helps people move forward with confidence, not through tricks, but through trust. Opening scene.

Marisa Shadrick :You’re deep in the jungle. Fog clings to the ground. A worn leather satchel is slung over your shoulder, a flickering lantern in your hand. You are the guide, and right now, your group is waiting, unsure which direction to go next. As we look at this opening scene, I want you to realize you’re not just leading a potential customer, you’re leading people. You’re leading them through unknown terrain. They don’t see the whole path, but you do. And unless you help them engage with the right steps on this journey, they’ll hesitate, wander, and turn back.

Marisa Shadrick :So let’s go over the four stones that your adventures need to reach in order to complete their adventure. The first one we’re going to talk about is the Lantern stone, which represents the invitation. The second one is the Gate stone, which represents the threshold. The third one is the Bridgestone that represents the risky leap. And. And the fourth one is the landmark stone, which represents the reassurance or the confirmation that they have arrived at the right place. So let’s break it down one by one. The Lantern stone.

Marisa Shadrick :The fog is thick. Nothing moves unless you raise your lantern. The beam slices through the darkness and someone spots it. They start walking toward you. The lantern is the light that says there’s something here for you. The lantern is visibility. It’s your podcast, guest spot, an interview, your social post, a webinar invitation, a workshop. It’s how strangers even know you exist without it.

Marisa Shadrick :They never find the trail. No matter how good your offer is, they don’t get close enough to see it. This isn’t about viral or famous. It’s about showing up where they already are with something worth noticing. Checkpoint for the Guide Are you consistently planning how to get in front of new people every month, either on live streams, through partnerships or appearances on platforms your ideal customer already trust. It could even be a workshop or for someone else’s community or membership. Okay, let’s continue our journey with the gate stone. You arrive at a narrow gate.

Marisa Shadrick :There’s a small opening, but only those who choose can step through. Some stop, some slip inside. This is your opt in for free offers. It’s the doorway where people go from watching to walking with you. A clear call to action. A strong reason to say yes. If this gate is missing or confusing. They stall.

Marisa Shadrick :They hover at the edge, unsure what comes next. Checkpoint for the Guide is your opt in clear, benefit, driven and emotionally relevant. Can a stranger instantly see themselves in it and feel compelled to say yes? If it’s clever but not clear, they’ll walk away confused. So let me clarify what I mean about an opt in page. You might hear landing page, opt in page or form. Now, a form is simply that. A form is a little bit of text with a couple of fields to put either maybe name and email. A form is limited.

Marisa Shadrick :It’s not a full website page. And sometimes the form can live inside of a page. So forms are helpful because it’s what we use to collect that information. But a landing page or an opt in page is a live web page with content. It usually has a headline. It could have a video, an image, and it explains all of the wonderful benefits when they download the resource. This is much better than just a form because in a form you’re very limited and you can’t really express the full transformation of what your free resource is going to provide. Now let’s continue on our journey to the Bridgestone.

Marisa Shadrick :You’ve led them through thick brush, past the gate, deeper into the terrain. Suddenly, the trail stops. In front of you is a wide ravine. The fog is coming in and the path feels uncertain. There’s a shortcut on the other side, but it means stepping onto a narrow rope bridge suspended above the unknown. You secure the ropes and test the boards. It’s safe. You’ve walked it many times.

Marisa Shadrick :You turn back and say, it’s safe. I’ll guide you across. You don’t have to do this alone. Some travelers inch forward, others freeze. A few look for the long way around, even if it delays their journey. Now the bridge is your offer. It’s the moment someone moves from interested to invested, from free to paid. And that can feel scary.

Marisa Shadrick :It’s where doubt creeps in. What if this doesn’t work? What if I regret it? Your job isn’t to push. If you’ve established trust up to this point, you lead with empathy and remind them there’s a reason they started this journey in the first place. Checkpoint for the guide. Does your offer feel like a safe next step? Not a hard sell, but a wise move. Have you earned the right to ask? Now? As your travelers continue on this journey, they reach the landmark stone. After crossing the path, visibility returns. And then up ahead, a marker glows in the distance.

Marisa Shadrick :A stone carved with symbols lit by torchlight. It says, you made it. You watch your traveler exhale. The shoulders drop. For the first time, they believe they’re not just wandering. They’re going somewhere. And they’re not alone. The landmark is the confirmation or the thank you page, the welcome email, the onboarding moment.

Marisa Shadrick :It’s the part most people rush or skip because the sale is done. But for your adventurers, the decision just got real. They need reassurance, orientation, and the next step. Checkpoint for the guide. Does your funnel end with clarity and direction or silence? Is there a beacon that tells them, yes, you’re in the right place? And here’s what comes next. It helps to reassure them. Now, I know this is a silly story, but I wanted you to understand that your audience is going on a journey. And that journey can feel risky and scary.

Marisa Shadrick :And you want to guide them and provide the right steps for them to come into your world, into your ecosystem. It has to be something safe, it has to be something beneficial, and it has to be something that brings transformation. Now, this is where AI can help you. You can look at your current funnel, your current strategy on how you bring people onto your email list, and you can analyze it with AI, you can see where the breakdown might be. Or maybe it’s simply the opt in page. Maybe you need to upgrade the content that’s on there. Is it clear? Have you shared it with other people or your peers to see if the messaging is really clear? Oftentimes these landing pages can have either too much or too little. A good way to create a landing page is simply to have a headline, a subhead, some bullets that shows benefits, an image, and if you have it, some credibility below.

Marisa Shadrick :It doesn’t have to be much if it’s a free offer, but if it’s a sales page, you want to make sure that they can self identify and see themselves in the copy. So when they’re reading it, they’re not really reading, they’re feeling it, they’re emotionally engaged. They’re saying, they, this is what I need. Now you might be saying, yeah, Marissa, I’ve got all that put together, but I can’t get anybody to go to my landing page. Well, that’s a lantern issue or a visibility issue. And one of the easiest ways to be able to get visibility is find other businesses or peers that have an audience that’s very similar to you, but you don’t compete with them, complement what they do by bringing value to their audience. But the beautiful thing about this is you get the opportunity to serve that host. And when I mean serve, it’s not just show up and talk to their audience.

Marisa Shadrick :You want to help promote whatever it is, whether it’s a podcast, a summit, or a workshop, you help promote it. You leave reviews on their podcasts. You do everything you can to lift them up and give them exposure because they’re gracious enough to have you there as a guest. So you do all you can to shout it out and let them know about this particular host. That’s the best way to do it. But most people don’t. They won’t announce that they’re appearing on that podcast. They won’t leave reviews, they won’t promote it.

Marisa Shadrick :After they’re on, they’re on to the next one. And so we need to realize that when we have these opportunities to speak, to speak either from stage or speak on a summit, or speak in a workshop, or speak on a podcast, we are building relationships and we are there to not only serve their community, but to serve the host as well. So to bring this story to a close, funnels aren’t just a sequence, they are a story, a journey through uncertainty and fear. And we are leading them to hope. Most people don’t need more information or more tech or more hacks. They need someone to trust. They need you, the one with the map. So be the guide, someone who will place every stone with intention.

Marisa Shadrick :Shine a light where it matters, make the next step feel safe and keep the lantern lit. And lastly, never forget what feels routine to you may be a lifeline to others. Share your best content and help your adventures reach their destination. If you like this podcast, I would love it if you’d leave a rating and review. If you don’t know how, I have a video at the end of the show notes on my website that explains exactly how to do it. So thanks for listening and until next time, take care.
