A recent Lancet study suggests that India may be on the brink of an obesity epidemic, especially concerning its youth. The study's global analysis indicates that 2.5 million children in the country, aged between five and 19, were grossly overweight in 2022, up from 0.4 million in 1990. This discovery carries weight as India already grapples with a heavy burden of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, strokes, and heart disease.
