in the new canon star wars novel BROTHERHOOD by Mike Chen, there's a moment where Anakin Skywalker is called "General" by a nearby Clone Trooper. Anakin thinks to himself how odd it is to be called by this title, and how he didn't become a Jedi to become a war general. I really like how they added this little detail in there. I think it adds to Anakin's overall views of how the Jedi were leaning into the politics and war of the Republic, and how he didn't want to be there.
