Welcome back to My Seminary Life. In today's Rabbit Trail, I recap my recent sermon on Joshua 1:1-9, look at its relationship to helping us transition in leadership, and ask the question, "why do we gender verses?" Down this rabbit trail, I look at a couple passages that we specifically assign to men or women, I rant about how it's just culturally influenced, lazy hermeneutics, and ask the additional question, "when did we start doing this?"

Welcome to my dojo, this is Kung Fu Pizza Party, and a happy spooky season to you all! In today's episode, I embrace the spooky vibes by review Rigor Mortis starring Chin Sui-ho as a washed-up version of himself. With this movie being an ode to the Mr. Vampire franchise of the 80s, I sit down to unpack the history of the Kung Fu Horror genre and how this movie is a completely different tone then the original films.. I also talk about the differences between "hopping vampires" and our Western idea of vampire, and I talk about the tiny shimmer of hope in this dark movie, where is home?

The Church above preaches that the world outside their four walls are filled with sinners and the people in their buildings are perfect. Many churches teach this implicitly but would never say so explicitly. These Churches pray words that sound good and they try by any means to make everyone act more like them.

.

This is the Underground Church where we believe no one is perfect and that's a good thing! We believe everyone can contribute to the Church but must do so with humility. We believe prayer should be honest and genuine and spoken in regular (vulgar) language to God!

What does it mean to pray honestly? What does the Bible say about honest prayer? What is the honest prayer in the Bible? How do you pray genuinely? What is the meaning of Psalm 17? What is the message of Psalm 17 6? What does Psalm 17:8 mean? What do apples represent in the Bible?

.

In this episode, we will:

• Explore the nature of prayer
• Deconstruct the attitude of the Church and church culture
• Discuss Psalm 17 and the importance of genuineness when we speak to God
