From Titus 3:5 I want to consider three different points that will give us assurance that salvation is not of works, that we can’t lose our salvation, and that God, by His grace, not only saves us, but keeps us saved to the end.

From Titus 3:5 I want to consider two antithetical facts about salvation so that you understand how a person is saved, evaluate your own spiritual condition, defend the gospel of grace, and share the gospel with the lost.

I want to give you four different broad categories that relate to the love of God and specifically, His love toward unworthy sinners, which causes Him to save some, so that we can thank, praise, and obey Him for His wonderful love towards us.

From Titus 3:4 I want to point out five characteristics of the kindness of God, so you can understand God’s kindness better, be thankful for God’s kindness because it led you to salvation, and glorify God in your relationships with unbelievers realizing your salvation was all of God, and none of you.

From Titus 3:4 I want to consider four major points of doctrine that if understood, accepted, and believed, change your relationship to God, your eternal destiny, and your reason or living!

Once the grace of God has invaded our lives, it is very easy to become proud, puffed up, look down on other sinners, isolate ourselves from the unbelievers of the world, to malign them for not being as godly as we are. Spiritual pride can creep in along with an ungracious condemning attitude towards others if we don’t stop to remember what we also once were before God saves us from our sin.

Let’s consider what we all once were before the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, so we don’t become proud, look down on others who don’t know Jesus Christ, and treat them as our mission field and share the gospel with them.

It is the grace of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God that puts to death the nine different sins mentioned in our text. As we look at each of these descriptions of the believer’s former life keep in mind that salvation makes these qualities a thing of the past. This doesn’t mean believers don’t sin any more, but they don’t live in unrepentant sin anymore like unbelievers do. The desire of the Christian is give God glory by loving righteousness, holiness, and by obeying the Word of God, being zealous for good deeds.
