In Daniel 8:1-27 we learn about the character of the final Antichrist of the tribulation from Antiochus Epiphanes, whose evil character and wicked actions gave the Jews a nearer future example of the much worse final Antichrist to come immediately preceding Jesus Christ’s return to earth.

From 1 Peter 5:10, I want you to see that your sufferings as a believer are temporary. The God who saved you will not only use your trials to make you more like Christ, but will also bring you through your trials to his eternal glory. Therefore we can rest in him, even in the midst of intense persecution.

From Daniel 7 we are given an overview of the Gentile empires of the world from the Lord’s perspective. They are seen by God as beastly and cruel. The last great beast, the kingdom of Rome, is never conquered and remains today. Antichrist arises from the Roman Empire. The Ancient of Days, however, gives dominion of the world to the Son of Man, the Messiah Jesus Christ to rule and reign for ever with the Saints of the Holy One.

Proverbs 29:18 teaches us about the value of the Word of God, the blessings it brings to those who obey it, but also the tragic consequences of living without God’s Word. In this sermon we examine Racism, Riots, and Revolution in light of the Word of God, explaining why our only hope is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

From Daniel 6 we learn how to live a no compromise life of faith and trust in the Lord. We see Daniel trusting the Lord in political intrigue and persecution, in the terrifying circumstances of the lion’s den, and see him looking to the Lord for rescue and trusting that as he lives out his faith, the Lord will glorify His name.

In Daniel 5 we learn from the folly of Belshazzar the king and his nobles to never mock God, presume upon God, or act wickedly. As Belshazzar and his nobles partied with the sacred vessels of the temple in Jerusalem, honoring their false gods and idols, suddenly a hand sent by God appeared and wrote a strange message on the wall. Daniel is summoned and interprets the message. Belshazzar he has been weighed in the balances and been found wanting. That night, Babylon fell to the Medo-Persian armies.

In Daniel 4:4-37 we learn that God sometimes gives, interprets, and fulfills dreams, that He sovereignly reigns of all, that He is to be worshiped, and that he is able to humble the proud.

From Daniel 3:28-4:1 we see how a proud pagan king first honors the true God of the Jews but then after his conversion worships and praises the one true God as his God, having been saved by grace.

From Daniel 3:16-27 we learn that strong, biblical faith, looks to God for rescue from trials, temptations, and death and that salvation from sin, evil, and danger is ultimately received in the life to come.

From Dan. 3:1-15 we learn from Shadrach, Meshach, and Abenego how to have courage in the face of temptation and to obey God at all costs, trusting in the Lord to deliver us.
