Paul’s time in Athens, and especially his message at Mars Hill (Ac. 17:16-34) powerfully showcases the apologetic method of the Early Church. In Luke’s telling of the story, Paul is, first, a student of Athenian culture and belief; second, a careful critic of that same culture and belief; and third, a clear exponent of the Gospel and how it speaks to the errors of paganism, offering something that satisfies the deepest spiritual, emotional, and intellectual yearnings of the human heart. 

Billions of people have followed the teachings of Jesus over the last 2000 years. Most people who are Christians just believe - because they have encountered Him. But what about those who haven’t encountered him? As we grow in our walk with God, submit to him and love Him - our lives should radiate Christ onto those around us. And that is when people have questions. Many people want to know if Jesus actually walked the earth. They will ask if He is God - and how do you know? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Can you prove it? In this message we are going to look at Biblical and non-Biblical proofs about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

Of all the books that have ever been written - the Bible stands out far above every other book. It is not even a comparison. But when asked about the reliability of this book, or how it was written, whether it is true, and how do we know etc. Many Christians are uncertain how to respond. We have often been so ‘churched’ that we are uncertain how to answer some of the questions ‘not-yet-believers’ are asking. So lets begin our search together and answer some questions - moving you in the right direction to discover more.

"And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us? And if our God is with us then what could stand against?” What does this truly mean? How do we know when God is for us and with us? Is this an unconditional and universal promise, or is discernment and deeper searching needed? Does God take sides?

Christians know that the communities we live in should be transformed for the kingdom of God. Yet the reality in most communities is that you would never know if Christian’s lived there or not. At Anchor Point we are determined to see our community transformed. What does that mean? How do we get there? Let’s find out. 

From the garden of Eden - we see a creator and designer who wanted relationship with his creation. From the garden, to the resurrection and on to today. And his design was for us to be in his presence from the beginning. So in this message we are going to see why he wants this - and how important it is for his creation to want him to be with them. Revival begins with Jesus being with his people. Do we want him? Or just the benefits of him?

Throughout scripture fasting is a discipline that has been used as a means in which we connect with God. In this message we are going to look at the different purposes for fasting as shown in scripture.

The idea of voluntary weakness is not uncommon. We do this as a society a lot. We encourage people that it is worth it to give up luxuries, sacrifice finances, give more time - for a variety of things. So what differentiates Christian fasting from ‘life-choice’ fasting? As a church we are entering a 3 week media fast. Lets explore the value and purpose for this fast - and how to make it much more than a ‘life-choice’ fast.

If Jesus Christ is king, as the whole of scripture proclaims, we should acknowledge him as King, honouring, obeying, worshiping him as such. Our acknowledgment of his kingship, furthermore, extends into and bears on every sphere of human society and life in which we participate. This year, let’s live joyfully under the truth that Christ reigns and is building his kingdom.
