Have you ever known someone who seemed unreachable? With their lifestyle or their background, there just seemed to be no hope of them turning to Jesus. In those cases, it’s easy to not even try to share the Gospel with them. What’s the point? In today’s message, Pastor Marc will remind us that it isn’t our job to decide who’s likely to accept Christ or not - we’re simply called to share His message. You may be surprised to find that His truth can soften even the most stubborn hearts.

Many religious movements, including branches of Christianity, have been built on the charisma of an individual or group of people. Churches can be formed and grown by a passionate pastor without God’s blessing or favor. When you see a large, growing church, you can’t assume that God is behind it. You have to discern whether it’s growing under the power and wisdom of man, or because the members are submitted to the power of God and sharing His truth, even when it’s not popular.

If you aren’t for Jesus, you’re against Him. In our culture with its pervasive humanistic philosophy, we’re often fed the idea that whatever you want to believe is fine. It’s your truth and as long as you're kind and tolerant towards others, you can do and say whatever you want. This doesn’t fit with the Gospel. As Pastor Marc will point out in today’s message, the Bible distinguishes Jesus as the only way to access God and spend eternity in Heaven. Every other religious system leads to destruction.

If you talk to many non-believers and ask them what they think of Jesus, you’ll get a wide range of answers. For many, they might say He was a “good person” who loved everyone. That’s true, but it’s very surface-level. Most of us, Christians and non-Christians alike try to make Jesus fit our idea of who we want Him to be. Typically He complies very well with our worldview and is tolerant towards our sin. As Pastor Marc will warn in today’s message, Jesus is real and He doesn’t conform to our expectations.

Are you familiar with these phrases? “God never gives you more than you can handle.” or “God helps those who help themselves.” They’re often quoted with the weight of Scripture, and even mistaken as Bible verses. But while they may be inspired by the Bible, they aren’t in the Bible. As Pastor Marc will challenge us in today’s message, how familiar are you really with God’s Word? We need to hide its words in our hearts so that we can recognize when we’re presented with ideas that contradict its truth. 

Gender and sexuality are extremely sensitive topics in today’s culture. All of us have likely sinned in these areas at some level, so none of us can throw stones. If you’ve even looked at someone with lust in your heart - you’ve sinned against God. As Pastor Marc will challenge us in today’s message, this fact should lead to grace and compassion in how we approach these controversial issues, but it doesn’t change the truth of Scripture and what it teaches us about God’s sovereignty as our Creator.

In today’s passage, we’ll witness Jesus calling a Canaanite woman a dog. When you first read His words, it’s a bit shocking. It seems to go against the gracious, kind character we know and love. But, as Pastor Marc will clarify in today’s message, Jesus’ words weren’t delivered as an insult, but with tenderness. The word He used could be better translated as referring to a helpless puppy. He then goes on to compliment her faith as being great and He heals her daughter exactly as she asked.
