  • Title special Guest-Kelly Bullock: Codependency part 2- When you’re life feels unmanageable, how to change the lens you’re looking through!

In episode 12 Kelly and I began a conversation about codependency, mainly with our spouse. Today we discuss codependency in a broader scope and how "often survival behaviors are what people do when they don’t have other options for dealing with overwhelming situations. The problem is, these behaviors become habitual. Then when they turn on us and begin to destroy our lives, we don’t know how to stop doing them.”( quote from Codependency No More-Melody Beattie

So, how do we change the story we are telling ourselves, so we can actually learn from the people and situations in our lives, instead of always trying to fix or please them. How can we begin to look at it/them differently? Listen as Kelly shares some amazing tips on breaking free from this unhealthy cycle!

  • What does it mean to model God’s Grace in our lives?!
If we truly want to live out principal six we need to learn what grace is and how to extend it toward others.
So we can love others even in their brokenness, just like Christ does for us. We don’t have to wait until they get it all together because we are thankful that he’s shown us grace in our brokenness as well. The amazing thing about God’s grace is that it’s never ending. I mess up every single day and he accepts my repentance and receives me back into his favor, he doesn’t  give up on us, so how do I extend that to others in my life too?

  • Forgiveness- How it impacts your heart and your future!!
The process of offering our forgiveness and asking for forgiveness is called making amends. Over the years I’ve talked to many people who were OK with working on themselves but really struggled when we got to this point in their recovery. Asking questions like if God has forgiven me, isn’t that enough? Or I don’t want to dig up the past, how will that help me?
The beauty about making amends is that it is more about your future than your past. How can we expect to move forward in our lives and have truly healthy relationships when we are still caring hurt, regret, shame and pain caused by our past relationships.
This can be a very scary thought for many people, but it’s where we have the biggest opportunity for freedom and growth.

  • From my grieving heart- it’s ok to not be ok!
In this episode I share candidly from my heart what grief looks like a year later after losing my son to cancer. How I didn’t grieve well from the beginning and jumped into serving with good intention but also out of fear of feeling the full weight of my grief. But I'm learning you can’t hide from it, it’s going to be hard, it’s going to hurt and for a long time. And it’s ok for me to struggle with that and have hard days. I don’t have to be strong because when I am weak, He is my strength!💙⚓️

  • Are you Ready for change and growth, do you feel stuck? Let’s take the next right step!
What does it mean to be entirely ready? At this point in your journey you would’ve admitted you had a problem and were powerless to fix it on your own, you came to believe that God is able and willing to help you, so you surrendered your life and will to his care and control and you wrote and shared your inventory with God and someone you trust( your accountability team), that’s a lot of hard work, so do we rest and relax now? No way, now is where the rubber meets the road!
