Daniel had to find out the kings dream and interpret it - and impossible task. Except that God did just that when Daniel and his friends prayed.

The message for the king and for us: human kingdoms come and go but only God's Kingdom will endure. We shouldn't be afraid of a "bad" king, and we shouldn't trust a "good" king to take care of the future! Only God can do that!

By no choice of his own, Daniel found himself living among a people who didn't share his belief in God, nor share his values. He has some important lessons for us today in how he handled himself. We begin looking at Daniels example in this first sermon.

Prayer will always seem like a task - if we don't understand what prayer is really all about. Prayer is more than a tradition or a requirement or a way to pressure God; prayer is the lifeblood of our relationship with God!

We tend to focus on resolutions as a new year begins. And most of our resolutions center around what we want to DO. (Or what we want to stop doing!)

God might have something that is way more important to Him than what we do!

Today we'll see what that is!

It is the very point Simeon makes when he holds Jesus in his arms. We all face a choice!

The point is that Christmas isn't just a gift to enjoy. The Good News is too good to keep to ourselves. We are to share the news of what God has done - just as the Shepherds couldn't keep silent!

The question for us: will we let Jesus change our lives as well?

This week Point of Grace's song "Emmanuel, God with Us" is our song. It is a story of seeing someone in need and sharing God's comfort. Christmas isn't just about good news for us. Jesus asks us to share that good news with others, who also need hope and help.
