Most people don't actually stick to their New Year's Resolutions because they have no purpose. When you have a purpose in life you're much more driven, determined and committed to your goals.
If you made the cliche New Year's Resolution to go to the gym more often, you'll only be truly successful if you have a real purpose behind why you're actually going. That purpose, that reason or that why for actually going to the gym, will keep you motivated long term.
It's a mindset you need to adobt if you actually want to be successful with your New Year's Resolutions (or any goals for that matter).
By developing a mental habit of continuously thinking about your purpose, you're going to be consistently motivated to stick to your goals because you have an emotional connection to that New Year's Resolution now, and if you give up or quit, you're going to be letting yourself down on a way deeper level.
