Health Affairs Editor-in-Chief Alan Weil interviews Andrew Anderson from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a member of the Health Equity Fellowship for Trainees program at Health Affairs on his recently published paper assessing financial costs associated with disparities in preventable heart failure hospitalizations among Medicare beneficiaries in the US South.
The authors found significant disparities in preventable heart failure hospitalizations between black, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native beneficiaries and white beneficiaries with tens of millions of dollars of costs each year associated with these disparities just in the South.
