Guided by the advice of Cineamaddicts Greg Srisavasdi, we went to see "Beast", a very interesting film set in a seaside town in the Channel Islands.

Like everyone else, we also had to check out "Deadpool 2", and fortunately left the theater with giddy grins.

The weekend was capped off with Paul Schrader's new film "First Reformed". Oscar performances are usually saved for Oscar season, but Ethan Hawke felt the need to hit this performance out of the park early.

Jess and Andrew took a trip to the movies to see a trio of extremely under the radar new releases this week. Each one with a "midnight movie" tone. 

"Revenge" is a bloody masterpiece from France that Jess just had to see twice to believe. She actually went to see it two days in a row. That is rare. 

IFC Midnight is a company that has been increasing the quality of their films in recent years. "Ghost Stories" and "Lowlife" are two releases that show how the company is trying to grow; diversifying the stories that it puts its label on.

Packing seven films into ten years, New Line created the blueprint on how to fully capitalize on a franchise, still utilized today by Purgers and Conjurers all over.

While Jess was studying for an entrance exam, Andrew needed to find something to do...which meant he was going to watch some movies. "I Am Not a Serial Killer" with Christopher Lloyd, "Leaving Las Vegas" with an often unhinged Nic Cage, "Josie", and Michael Powell's "Peeping Tom" hit the docket for the week. 

Jess isn't completely absent on this episode, she was able to join in for Dario Argento's slasher classic "Deep Red", which exceeded both of our expectations.
